Why the eff are some here still talking about a kid who decided Clemson was more to his liking and never played a down at HC?!

Who cares about Helms. He wants to try to play at Clemson or USF, good for him. We have 3 QB's on roster and one coming in. Let them compete and may the best man win. Helms needs to lose that earring. Personally, I don't like how kids put on the uniform, take a million photos, sign their name, and parade it around instagram before ever stepping foot on campus. I guess you do what you got to do to recruit, but it's getting a little ridiculous. Maybe I am completely out of touch with modern reality of Tik Tok and never ending self promotion I was thinking the same thing albeit not involving Helms. Maybe I am showing my age but this whole self-promotion thing on social media has gotten way out of control. Another pet peeve of mine is the “turnover” chains, belts, etc. showing up on the sidelines. The histrionics after a TD, tackle, etc. have become an embarrassment to the game. How about the kid from Mississippi State who cost his team a chance for OT or even going for the win in their big rivalry game with Ole Miss by mimicking Odell Beckham’s dog peeing on hydrant move.

Update on the “”pi$$ and Miss”. The “excessive celebration” was on Ole Miss and as the penalty is being walked off, the offender is seen on the sideline with the WWE-like touchdown belt over his shoulder. You can’t make this stuff up.

Can't believe what some are talking about here but could someone clue me in on what one finger on the right hand points up while three fingers on the left hand point down means?

My guess would be his #13. Great number by the way.

13 was for many a number of power - that is why those insiders started rumors about it being unlucky. They did not want the masses to realize its power. I'll post something. more later on that symbol.

Congrats to 2020 Commit Joe Rivers (OLB/SS) on his selection to the 2019 Boston Herald All-Scholastic Football Team. Lots of future college football players highlighted on that team.

Phoenix Dickson named to Detroit Free Press Division 1 (highest of 8 divisions) All-State team. With this All-State recognition, he is following in the footsteps of Jacob Dobbs. Hopefully, he’ll have a similar impact on Mt. St. James.

3.1 and 1120? Who says we don’t make allowances for athletes?

A few of the Ivies make admission easier for a few athletes each year as long as they hit the team target
Does the PL have a team number or is the AI just a floor?

I believe most schools have 4 separate “bands” to which they assign a certain number of recruits who they can support through Admissions and who fall within a certain band. Bands are based upon each recruit’s Academic Index, which is a mathematical calculation based upon a recruit’s ACT/SAT score and unweighted GPA. 4 and 3 bands are the most plentiful number of spots, and The higher the band, the closest it is to the average Academic Index score for the immediately preceding freshman class as a whole. The least plentiful are 1 bands. As an example, If the school can sponsor 20 recruits, something like 6 would be 4 bands, 8 would be 3 bands, 4 would be 2 bands and 2 would be 1 bands.

Thanks
So the PL 4 bands and the differences between schools resembles the Ivies
HYP having their own levels The rest are allowed more from the lower bands
as I recall from a few years ago the others in the Ivy have a lower band starting at 165 which has modest flexibility on the GPA side so a 3.0 with 1050 would qualify for the sought after players
the 3.1 and 1120 sounds about right for the lower band, although in the past there was no guarantee AM would accept them

So, a recruit that might be a 2 band at HYP might score as a 3 band at the other Ivies. The goal is to have a total recruiting class that has an average Academic Index that is close if not equal to the average Academic Index for the class as a whole, or no more than one standard deviation lower than the average.

Serious as far as I know. Whatever it takes I guess. Maybe they should post a want ad on Craig’s list. I don’t think this is a good look, plus I thought we had a higher floor. Interesting.

I don't have a problem with the "minimum" academic credentials mentioned in the tweet by Coach Smith. If potential recruits don't meet those criteria, they will not respond. Theoretically, at least, we can expect that at least some responses will be higher than the stated minimum.
I fully appreciate that the recruit class will be improved if we can add at least one TE and one or two DTs. Right now, all of the TEs that received offers from Holy Cross are committed (one to HC, all others to other schools). Holy Cross has made offers to several DLs that are currently uncommitted, but they all seem to be either [1] mulling offers from FBS schools, or [2] more suited to be DEs, not DTs.

An interesting side note for those who have questioned recruiting Massachusetts football players.
The last uncommitted Massachusetts recruit who was offered by Holy Cross -- WR Gregory Desrosiers (Belmont Hill School, Belmont, MA) -- has committed to Louisville.

I also saw that Matt Duchemin from St. John’s Prep. in Danvers picked up offers on Sunday from Colgate and Lafayette. Since our recruiting class seems to be full at WR and CB, I don’t think we are looking to add to our class at those positions. Coincidentally, this was the same day the Boston Herald announced its Football All-Scholastic Team. Lots of college football players listed, including several D1 commits.
