Navy doubling us up in rebounding. But we have 11 assists on 12 baskets, hooray! DeChellis continue to run circles around Carmody. ...and to have Navy lose.

HC wins 69-64. JF fouled out late. 7 scorers of the 9 players in the game.

We overcame a terrible rebounding effort and a sloppy final two minutes to prevail against Navy (6-13, 3-5) by a score of 69-64, to improve to 3-5 in the Patriot League.

Navy dominated the boards (39-24), but HC came on at the end with some key rebounds. At the end, Navy is now 6-13 and Holy Cross is 12-9.

It’s on NESN plus, not NESN. Not on NESN+, either It was at least on FIOS. What cable system do you have?

I love it- not even a three page thread. If they lost it would be 6 pages by now.

Great game to go to. What a crowd. Nice win, little worried at the end but as longtime Pirate announcer Bob Prince would have said "We had them all the way!"
Would be nice to have crowds like that for all the home games. It would be hard for teams to come in and win.

Glad we got back in the win column. I did not see any part of the game so will be interested to hear some of the eyewitness accounts.

If we play that starting 5 again any hope for 18-21 wins is unlikely-coaches decision I know -I guess we should take the W and move on

The group that started log enough minutes together in Carmody's normal game plan that starting them rather than having Benzan come off the bench wasn't such a big deal.
However, the real difference is that Faw was reduced to 5 minutes...Ziggy played 14, Verbeek 3 and Copeland 7.
While Faw was in he didn't look to shoot at all. Hopefully all due to injury that limited his effectiveness but not serious.

Went to the game, my first one this year. Three point shooting was great, lots of effort on steals, missed an unusual amount of bunnies, strong school spirit from large homecoming crowd. Many BB alums introduced, Togo got the biggest applause. Band, cheerleaders and baton twirler crushed it and the kid's shooting games during breaks were funny. Quality entertainment for the many families in attendance.
One drawback was there were still about 30-40 people in line for the lone concession stand when the second half began. With coffee at $3 a cup, I am glad I didn't bother. I went upstairs to watch the HC vs Springfield College swimming meet during halftime. The Luth center is gleaming and the college put on a good day for people.

I watched the whole game until about a minute to go, and we had a lead. Then, as I left my car in the church parking lot and was heading into 500PM Mass I could not get anything on my iPhone--the broadcast, live stats, espn scoreboard--so I was hoping to get the final result (and praying that we prevailed).Glad to hear that we got it done

By the way--nice game for Austin Butler--22 points on 4-7 on 2's, 3-5 on 3's, and 5-5 from the line. He added an assist and 3 steals and 0 turnovers. I've been in his corner since game 1--not just because "he's a warrior" or "gives his all" but because he's a talented player, a big contributor, a key part of this outstanding sophomore class. I know others disagree and that baffles me.

Good to get the win today..Grandy was on fire in the first half, and didn't get as many good looks in the 2nd half...AB was solid for the most part. Coach changed up the starting lineup and played 9 in the first half...Faw didn't get as much time as in the past, looked like he is nicked up a bit..2 fingers taped together, and he was moving slowly. Looked like a knee problem when he came out late in the game..BV got some early minutes, he shoots it ok, but his footwork is slow on D, so he has trouble defending on the ball...Ziggy got some minutes, steady as always.. ... Overall this team showed how young it really is..Caleb tries to force to much late in the game off his dribble, and Grandy made that pass real late, when Navy was pressing, under the Navy hoop..a Junior High pass...and he new it...I think the HC style on offence really affects the press break offence..The players do not attack the press, they try to finesse it...
HC played a lot more 1-3-1 today than they have in the past few games..Now if we just can make free throws under 3 minutes left in a game and defend the 3....Coach was constantly telling players "no 3's" late, but players were still late getting to shooters...PB on the baseline couldn't get to shooters in the corner...AB kept looking to slide in and help, leaving a run at the shooter...Go man to man and take away the 3 late???

Today he ate away at ABs time which is hard to comprehend for a team that struggles to score

Next thing you know there’ll be a suggestion that we “Spread some chicken on the hill with Will!” (College Hill w/ Will Carmody??) Fun day at the Luth.

Unless I missed it earlier on this thread, we are missing one key follow up from every Hart Center game: attendance reported of 2,800+ was a grotesque exaggeration, right?

If there were more upperclassmen guards or any guards for that matter who could contribute, maybe his minutes could be reduced. There aren’t. By any objective measure, the guys you suggested play over him - LeSaan, Hargis, Copeland - shouldn’t be playing over Benzan. To suggest that they should be is wishful thinking and would make the product on the floor worse. I’m assuming that’s why Carmody plays him more minutes than the others you suggest.

From my vantage point and estimate, I would say that if that number is wrong, it’s a bit light. The building holds 3,500+/-, and I would say that it was at no less than 80% of capacity - probably a bit more. Best crowd since Winter Homecoming in ‘17 against BU.
