Yes, 87s right. In fact UB dropped football at the end of 1970, the year they beat winless HC.

At one time it was rumored that we'd be back on Army's schedule in 2023 - if this comes to pass, that's the most attractive two fbs games we could hope for in any season.

Agreed....basically the two .FBS schools we played the most in the 70s and 80s by a longshot. Be interesting, my gut is we play just the 1 FBS school per year except for the 12 game years like this year...next one is 2024. Just curious, who ultimately signs off on these games at HC? Does ADMB have carte blanche or does he have to run it by O'Kane/Fenwick before the games are etched in stone?

In 2021 UMass is playing UConn, URI and Maine. That's sensible. Surprised they don't play UConn in the later years. Misery loves company, and so close by.

Why anyone would want to see HC play either of the two worst 1A schools in the country is mind-boggling.

Why anyone would want to see HC play either of the two worst 1A schools in the country is mind-boggling. Probably more appealing than a MAC or CUSA school for most. Local game where there would be a nice HC contingent. Rather go to a game in Amherst than watching on ESPN3 as HC plays Ball State.

I'll take games at Navy & 'cuse over total stiffs, local or otherwise, any day.

2 Mid to lower D1 games each year is ideal with an occasional total mismatch(top50) team

I'll take games at Navy & 'cuse over total stiffs, local or otherwise, any day. So would I. But UConn and Umass are better options than many other FBS schools.

If UConn or UMass were a 2nd FBS during a season that would be ideal.

We play UConn again in 2021....I wouldn't rule out UMass post 2023...they need games as an Indy

UMass' AD Bamford Tweeted that he is close to announcing a "robust" football scheduling package with UConn, so I thinking they will be annual opponents for as long as they are both playing football. They probably should play annually at Fenway on Thanksgiving weekend to add a little interest to the game.

I highly doubt there would be any interest whatsovere by FSG in having the likes UMess and CT play at Fenway, and last I checked they are who decides who gets to use the yard, not the schools.

I’d really like to understand the finances of UConn and UMass playing as FBS independents in New England. It seems impossible that they’re better off financially doing that than they would be playing in the CAA for football.

Well, FSG has hosted such powerhouse matchups as Dartmouth-Brown, BC-UConn, and Maine-UMass in recent years. I hardly think that a matchup involving the two largest schools in New England that would likely draw 20K+ to an otherwise closed ballpark is such an absurd possibility, especially when they could stage multiple high school Thanksgiving games on Wednesday and Thursday. The Red Sox know how to make money off of their ballpark beyond baseball.

I'm well aware who has played at Fenway. I'm also well aware FSG knows how to make $, and given the current state of each program, a game between UMess and CT isn't going to make $.
