Spent his first year in the US at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, CO. You can’t coach height!

From an October article about Kane:
“While the rest of the Illinois basketball team was practicing in the summer, Kane was not in attendance due because of an academic hold-up.”

He has several relatives that are HC grads. One of them told me that he wanted to go to HC, but HC didn’t show much interest. He’s a shooter! i hope the new regime takes a long, hard look!!

Posters on the Siena board not exactly jumping off the ledge - some question his defense, rebounding, and toughness. We need guys who can do more than shoot.
At 6-9, he took over 90% of his shots from deep, had one rebound per 40, and a grand total of three FTAs in almost 900 minutes.

Seymour averaged 9.1 points as a Frosh and was on the All-MAAC rookie team. He had 14 offers out of high school including Pitt, St. John’s, South Florida and Bucknell. And he’s 6’9”. I agree with Sader81 on the long look. Timing seems awfully coincidental.

You never know when those high major offers were merely back ups for higher priority players and/or early offers when he was a higher priority.

If we can get a 6’9” kid who is a deadly shooter and at any point in his life had 14 D1 offers, including a few from the Big East and ACC for any reason, I think we should take a long look. And his Dad’s a coach. Siena board mostly assuming he’s following Jamion Christian to GW.

From Seymour’s Siena bio:
“Possesses both a high basketball IQ and a strong shooting ability.”
Need I say more?

Not sure that 37% from three makes him a deadly shooter 90% of his shots were from three and he rebounded less than one a game, he is very one dimensional

How many bigs have we’ve had who were fully formed as players as Frosh? 37% as a Frosh could easily develop into 40% as a soph or junior. A year off to hit the weights and become more comfortable around the basket could help. Not saying it’s a sure thing but lots of focus on the negatives here and not much on the positives.

I have to trust our new coach and his staff to make these decisions. I believe they can make a call about his future potential...and you cannot teach height.

We have other needs right now and while it is hard to turn down a shooter or scorer, we need at least one pg, two 6’8 “ bangers and another Butler before I would take Seymour

Although I may be off because no one's seen the new coach's system in action; it seems much, much more likely that Seymour would fit into what Carmody was trying to do; so, no thanks.

Last year, Holy Cross was a very good shooting team - in fact, highest EFG of any HC team in over thirty years.
The result? Tenth.
No doubt there are teams who can afford to have a 6-9 kid hanging around the perimeter for 40 minutes, because they have other bigs who actually, you know, play like bigs. We are not one of those teams. If we are going to offer a scholarship to a big, he should be able to play in the paint at both ends, draw contact, and rebound. Nothing in Seymour's stat profile suggests he can do that.
I thought we were past the notion that if you have enough shooters, you don't have to worry about anything else.

His statistics are astounding--as several have noted above-- He had 252 three point attempts versus only 18 from two point range. He was #1 in D-1 in not committing fouls and, astoundingly, had just three free throw attempts in 877 minutes of play. It appears that he must come inside the three point arc, at either end of the floor, maybe once or twice a game?

Has anyone ever read a bio that said "Has tons of talent but the basketball IQ of a rock"? I'd like to see Debby Downer from the SNL skit get a job writing coach and player bios. That would be a riot.😉
