I wonder how Austin has been doing with Spring track meets? I believe he was adding the long jump and triple jump this year after setting school records in javelin throwing...

180 feet in the javelin is a very respectable throw. But the shot put of 74' .and discus throw of 197' by Jordan Geist of Knoch is incredible!!

I believe Michael Carter, who went on to be a San Francisco 49er lineman, held the high school record for many years around 80 feet

I had 4 shot putters i my team who each hit over 54 feet and they dominated their competitors. 60 feet is VERY good, I agree that 74 feet is extraordinary!

Don't know if the kid will be a star , but at least we can be sure he will be strong.

That is currently the second best mark in the U.S. this year for the shot. Just misses top ten for the discus. Carter has the all-time SP record- a little over 81'. Best all-time in discus about 237' and best in javelin a bit over 255'. Btw, if you are looking for a truly incredible T&F achievement, a kid in Louisiana ha broken the HS record in the pole vault five times this year, with the last one being 19-4.

Another nice honor for this future Crusader.
I think we should have found a scholarship for Ms. Bisignani......

I just hope we don't start all kinds of "wasted scholarship" talk if he has a 0-20 drought on 3s like CHam did his freshman year. Hope we are not putting him on too high a pedestal.

Dave-we have to be realistic. Some on this board will immediately start the negative talk if he misses his first field goal attempt.

It is interesting how some of the biggest "pre-enrollment" boosters can be the first "sky is falling" critics who are the hardest to please.

I don't know about anyone else but I am expecting Austin to be the "second coming of Mitchell Hahn." Anything less and I will be crushed! I want his first shot to be a made 3 pointer from around the midcourt line.

I want his first shot to be a made 3 pointer from around the midcourt line. I know you're just having some fun with this but the point does merit expansion. Whereas one might say that Mitchell Hahn was one-dimensional, but exceptional at that one dimension, shooting; I think Austin Butler will bring a much broader set of skills and tendencies to the game....
