I love the fact that he is scorer! IMHO, too many of the players HC has recruited over the past few seasons have been "athletic" but not scorers...Scorers can fill it up, and usually can do it every level they play at...Fingers crossed!

In the last regular seaso game before the playoffs Latrobe plays Kennedy Catholic today. Kennedy (19-1) is the top rated class A school in the state.

You've got that right--scores 40 points and barely gets a mention

Not to put too much pressure on him but will he be the player who finally stops our coaches from saying "we don't shoot it that well?"

Butler's 40 included 10 2s, 4 3s and 8 of 10 from the line.

Here are some stats on Butler through 18 games: 30 PPG 7 RPG 54 percent shooting 62 percent 2 point shooting 33 percent 3 point shooting 67 percent free throw shooting It's pretty obvious that Butler is an adept scorer but maybe not the pure shooter that his highlights might lead you to believe. It appears from the stats that he is probably strong taking the ball to the basket and probably gets his share of rebound buckets leading to the 62 percent on 2 point shots. I was a little surprised that the 3 point and free throw percentage weren't better. Looking forward to the arrival of Austin and his fellow freshmen in the fall.

67% ft shooting a concern Yup, at 67% he'd only be the second best FT shooter on the HC varsity.

He had ft % of 73% as a junior. NCAA average is right around 70%. Off the top of my head I can think of a few "classic shooters" who were very good at both three point shooting and free throws: Brian Wilson and Keith Simmons come to mind. But there are also players who are very good three point shooters but not really good at the free throw line: Andrew Beinert and Malachi Alexander come to mind. I think the strength issue really comes into play when it comes to three point shooting

I have seen guys in hs who average 22 per game 10 of which come from stealing in bounds passes from weak competition. I don't know anyone who has seen this kid play but 33 and 67? Does that project a knock down shooter?

Do not agree with the strength factor Ex Jack the shot, Steph Curry, esp in college, Ed Siudut Shooting is primarily form and repetition. Sometimes there is little correlation between 3 point shooting and Ft since fts are shot in a different atmosphere, all staring at you, no motion from others, shot without prior movement ,etc

Competition? Just worried about getting shot in the arse about a recruit no one has seen.
