Ok, I guess I got a little giddy. I totally forgot the fact there would be a senior class ahead of them when they are juniors! Ok, they should be happy starting together their senior year. Plus, they'll be playing well into March. 👍

Simmons and Thomas were pretty promising, though Torey did not have Keith's high rating. Some, inc Tom Konchalski, thought highly of him. He also was impressed by Tyrone Cohen, wasn't he? Yes

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that this is the most promising class of recruits Holy Cross has had in the PL era - or at least that's the time frame in which a debate on the subject is relevant. The discussion of "stars" in the 1960s vs. the last 25 years in HC history is a discussion of apples and oranges. There have been very few 3-star recruits in PL history - maybe Bison137 can give us some info here. But for perspective, consider that both Mike Muscala and C.J. McCollum were 2-star kids when they committed. I don't put much stock in 3-star rankings, especially from ESPN, but there have been more 3 star PL players in recent years than you might think, although some arrived via transfer. Here is a partial list of players from four PL schools who got at least one 3-star ranking from Scout/Rivals/ESPN. I know HC has had some as well (Beinert for example), but you guys would know the names better than me): AMERICAN: - Jonathan Davis (transfer) - Delante Jones - James Washington - Matt Cimino (transfer) - Vlad (transfer) - Brian Gilmore - Troy Brewer (transfer) - Cornelio Guibunda (transfer) BUCKNELL: - Todd O'Brien - Cam Ayers - John Azzinaro - Nana Foulland - Enoch Andoh - JC Show BOSTON: - Eric Johnson - Mo Watson - Blaise Mbargorda (Transfer) - Nick Havener - Cheddi Mosely - Cedric Hankerson - Tyler Scanlon LEHIGH: Lance Tejada (transfer) - Matt Holba - Kyle Leufroy - Pat Andree - Kahron Ross - John Gourlay - Marquis Hall I am sure there are others as well. I have been on vacation and have not followed this rush of new commits. When I look at verbal commits, it shows no stars for any of the five. Is that in error? P.S. There was one other transfer (John Brandenburg of Colgate) who had four stars from both Rivals and Scout. Was predicted to become one of the top players in PL history by one of this board's most prolific posters. Didn't quite happen.

I tend to agree with dado in terms of using offers as a gauge, although even that could be influenced by timing. If CN had waited until the end of Sept. to make his decision, for example, I bet he would have gotten several more offers.
What I like: it appears they'll be able to play these guys together. They seem to have the skills that the staff desire. In the end, to me the biggest key to success in sports is being able to do what you want better than what the opposition does. These guys, hopefully, will be positioned to do that. What youtube doesn't show us are the intangibles - how would they react, for example, if they are faced with having to win 4 road games to win a league title?
But - this is the time to be happy, to dream. Thats what it's all about imho.

The author mentions our record last season, but somehow left out our PLC and NCAA win.

The author mentions our record last season, but somehow left out our PLC and NCAA win. Noticed that...sort of left out an important piece of the story for the season

Thanks, hoops! The potential of Matt and company is so good it is almost frightening.

In this picture from July, he looks like he's pretty sturdy, with the potential to even gain more strength (I thought it was reported earlier he weighed 190-200). Again, hoping we have good timing!

We won't be sneaking up on anybody any more. Teams will be better prepared for us. I hope we're up to the task.

The preparation/reaction by OOC teams may show in willingness to schedule eventually. The league is now preparing for 2 PO's... should be fun

Just as RW's matchup d was very difficult to prepare for, so is CBC's PO. Seeing it on tape is far different from trying to get your second string to run it effectively in practice.

Sounds good despite the Worchester reference. Even my iPhone knows how to spell it as it auto-corrected when I tried to spell it as the author did.
