Think that timeout may have been useful? That time out would have given us the ball back at the end of the game and throwing two incomplete passes instead of two runs on first and second down would have given us time to do something with the ball at the end of the game. I don't understand nuances like leverage as well as some but after twenty years of Belichick and Brady I understand clock management, time and distance etc., and get disappointed when it is handled poorly. Correct. The game was lost before that drive inside our own five, but the sneak on first down, dive play on second down, and timeout on 4th and 10 when we were lining up to punt was cringeworthy bad.

Oddly, that game may keep Chesney at HC longah than he thought. We win the PL this year and he's at least already looking elsewhere.
Typical HC....."defeat from the jaws of victory"
It is what it is....the level of play in general in the PL is so far below the level of the better conferences in the FCS....we just have to learn to enjoy it for what it is and not let it get undah our skin as hard as that can be sometimes, like now.

Neither of those points ()offense and play calling) account for the four fumbles and poor first half pass coverage, but don't let that stop your rant. You think those are the only reasons we lost the game? haha.

I thought that the offensive strategy was solid at times, but the actual play calling just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
It really is almost impossible to win a game with 5 turnovers, but I do think there is something to be said about our unwillingness to make adjustments in game.
We got stopped for a loss on 3rd down running out of the shotgun on a 4 second long developing handoff then did the same thing on 4th down and just happened to get lucky - That, to me, is some pretty elementary stuff..
The inconsistency is disconcerting.

Having vented, the parity in the PL is ours for the plundering in the next two weeks. If we take care of business during the two game Jesuit season we can not only nab the inaugural (mythical?) Provincial Cup but I would say the odds are we will get help and end up in the FCS playoffs.

I'd be very surprised if we won at Fordham next week....this was basically the season....shame.

If they beat Colgate and Lehigh, they do no worse than Co-PL Champs and would head to the playoffs via a tiebreaker.

I'd be very surprised if we won at Fordham next week....this was basically the season....shame. I thought we could lose at Fordham next week. Now I don't think that will happen. As others have said...win the last two and see where things fall. In the preview I did point out the talent Lafayette had in their frosh QB. Looks like he was a big part of the difference between the teams today. And we will see him for three more years.

You can't really predict the outcome with any real certainty.

Colgate and Bucknell winning as of now which just might make the next two weeks interesting.
Disappointing yes, but at the beginning of the season all thought we would finish 2nd behind Colgate, so let’s wait and see what the next two weeks offer before putting a fork in the season

If Colgate and Lehigh don't commit five turnovers either one has a shot to beat Laffy. I bet the odds of the Leopards winning both are lower than the odds of Lafayette splitting those two games. Of course the same can be said for HC so we are kinda sorta in control of our own destiny, too, or at least should be motivated to play like we are.

Colgate up 24-13 over Fordham (4th Q). Bucknell up 17-3 over Lehigh (4th Q)

Wasted two running plays on the one- lost a minute.

Is it possible for all 7 PL teams to finish with a 3-3 league record? What would happen then?

The rushing game was not there today. Cozier, 14 attempts for net 50. Oliver 8 for 41, with 35 of those coming on a single scamper up the middle. Lafayette stopped the long runs, and I fear that both Fordham and Georgetown will try copying Lafayette's defensive schemes against the run.

Bottom line, 5 turnovers will do almost every team in.
Agree we need someone else running back kick offs. Even before the fumble, thought it was poor judgement to even try to run it back. When it was obvious he wasn't going to make it to the 25 where we would get it if he just took a knee, it appeared he was stretching to get an extra half yard and fumbled.
I've seen this ref (ref team?) before. He/they is/are horrible. We can't pin this loss on the refs BUT, on one of our fumbles near the sideline, the Laffy player was on the ground with half his body in bounds and half out of bounds. He bobbled the ball, never had possession until he rolled over totally out of bounds. Never reviewed the play. On one of our more obvious fumble losses, they did review it. No rhyme or reason.
I do not recall Cozier being back in the game after his (?) fumble. Didn't see him get hurt. Did anyone else see him injured or did he play any subsequent downs? Just saw Miles Alexander in in Dom's place. Sure hope he wasn't grounded due to the fumble as that one really wasn't his fault.
OK, I've decided to hold off cutting my wrists for now. Here's the good news. If we win our two remaining games and our old friend Tom Gilmore's team knocks off Lafayette, we should be champs despite the poor performance today.

It's tough to have good rushing numbers when 96% of your running plays start 6 yards behind the line of scrimmage from a dead stop. The team Gilmore inherited give up 56 points last year. 56.........Half way decent teams will dominate our offense. Actually, 2-7 teams will dominate our offense.
