Al Attar (Fall River) , Leo Kane (StJ Prep), Brian Reale & Keith Driscoll (BC High), Buddy Venne (RIP, Xavier HS, also. gone), Leo Parent (CC of Lawrence), Chris Rojik (south shore somewhere), Don Prohovich (Ware), Larry Westbrook (Holyoke), Ernie Floyd (Boston English), Ed Thurman (Lynn Classical), Champ Godbolt (Springfield somewhere), John Hightower (some hs in Boston).
Those and what others have submitted get us around 2 dozen. I'm sure I've missed a bunch, especially walk-ons that hardly played.

Prior to opening this thread I nearly had a heart attack. I'm now conditioned to expecting the worst when opening threads with player names in the titles.

There was another one a couple weeks ago that had the word "portal" in it; a few days after Hargis packed it in. In that case it was, to me, "which guy left now?"

All I remember about North is they kicked our butts in hoop, with the Hampton brothers dunking on everyone.

Since this thread is about Worcester area guys who went to HC, I wonder if the Hampton brothers were recruited. One of them went to Fairleigh Dickinson and was a star for them. The center on my high school team was 6'7" Tony Koski who went to Providence and played with Jimmy Walker. Not recruited by HC, if I recall correctly.

Vicens, Perrys, King Gaskins, Siudut(R.I.P.),, Walter Brown, Curry, Greg McCarthy, Vaval, (not sons of) I could be wrong but I think everyone of those named are from Greater Boston. Places like Somerville, West Roxbury, Everett, Braintree are definitely not part of Worcester County. Neither are places out near Springfield in the cases of Westbrook and Godbolt. And last time I checked, Ponce is not in Worcester County.

"He just danced through the lane on that one, just like they do on the streets of Ponce on a Saturday night!"
....Bob 4Acre describing a pretty move by Mike Vicens.

Time to reopen the pipeline to Ponce. There must be nephews, nieces or cousins that would look good in purple.

If Pridge finishes up the season with more games like last night, he might beat the odds and find a place on that 3rd team all league (yes, I know the odds are long for a freshman on a last place team). I'm having a hard time accepting that there are clearly 15 players having a better season than him.

Tony is my neighbor on the Cape.. talked with him yesterday... he had just finished an hour long phone call with Togo. Re HC I believe that there was mutual interest but it didn't work out. A very nice man.

Win loss record aside, in league games he’s six in scoring and eighth in rebounding and has the third highest FG%.

Is second team unreasonable? Win loss record aside, in league games he’s six in scoring and eighth in rebounding and has the third highest FG%. As 137 pointed out awhile ago, that's been pretty rare for any freshman in the league. In 2009-10, CJ made 1st team, Muscala 2nd. Fwiw, here's how Pridgen's and McCollum's freshman counting stats compare in overall play (League rank in parens)
CJ. 19.1ppg (2nd), 5.0rpg (15th), 2.4apg (15th). 54.1% EFG (2nd). 25.8 Efficiency (1st), Usage 28.4% (5th) JP. 17.1ppg (4th), 6.7rpg (7th), 2.1apg (20th). 58.4% EFG (3rd). 20.6 Effiiency (8th), Usage 26.5% (7th).
McCollum was a very good free-throw shooter, and didn't turn the ball over a lot. Pridgen isn't, and does (more TOs than anybody in the PL except Sa'eed Nelson). Third team is a more reasonable expectation, I think.

Impressive stats for Joe just checked of all the HC 1000 pt scorers, only Perry Jr averaged more ppg as a freshman than Joe has thus far. he is ahead of Potter and Vicens Joe is a bit behind in rebs with his 6.7 Chris had 7.6, Mike 6.8 pretty good company, even vs the lesser comp.

I think Pridgen is almost a lock for 3rd team recognition but doubt it will be any higher. The first team will probably be Burns, Rayman, Mahoney, Kostecka and Nelson. The second team Ivanauskas, Davis, Jaworski, Funk and Whyte. I think the third team should be Wilson, Cohen, McCoy, Wilson and Pridgen.

Reigning POY averaging 13/7/2 in less than 30mpg, playing on a very balanced team that is best in the league. I agree he hasn't played as well this year but he will get recognition based on reputation and strength of his team.
