I saw him play. Maurice would have been an all time NBA great. Jack Twyman was an all time human being.

Twyman teamed with Chris Shenkel (sp?) for ABC telecasts in the late 60s. Some can be found on youtube, including the 1969 Celtics-Lakers final (The Forum Balloons in the Rafters game). Footage includes Jack interviewing Celtics players postgame.

Jay Twyman played with Brett Brown, coach of the Sixers.

Recently saw an ESPN piece on Stokes and it was truly a tragic story. Amazingly the NBA and the Royals did nothing to help Stokes. Despite the fact that the players unionized with Cousy as President in 1954 the owners didn't recognize or support the union until 1964. Luckily Twyman stepped up and basically made Stokes part of his family and actually became his guardian. He along with other NBA players organized an annual All Star game that was played each summer to raise money for Stokes. It was very interesting that before he was stricken Twyman and Stokes were not close as Stokes thought Twyman shot too much.

Not only didn't the owners help out, but Stokes was injured in a ballgame, which I didn't know, confusing encephalopathy with encephalitis.
Too bad Twyman wasn't an attorney, you'd think that even in the 1950s you'd get a judge or jury to concede the injury was work-related.

I guess Nate Pine was impressed with the underwhelming performance HC basketball had with Carmody and Scott running things.
In 17 years as a head coach, Scott has gone below .500 in conference in ten years.
I guess he is well liked at AFA, though.
Not going to out-recruit some of the better programs in the MWC, so I guess you need to have a gimmick in order to have a smoldering of success there.

Scott was reportedly making $285K as an assistant in 2018-19 at Georgia. Not too shabby. Not sure if he got any bump for 2019-20.

Jim Christian coming back to BC- not exactly a ringing endorsement from the AD.

Virus has saved the jobs of several coaches. All 74 (or 75 if you want to include UConn) Power 6 coaches will return to their positions next year barring a late firing or resignation. I guess BC had no choice but to bring Christian back given the pandemic, but they are likely going to be worse next season which means that they would be entering a coaching search with likely 15-20 other power programs which means they would be stuck with a retread (JTIII, Billy Kennedy, etc) unproven assistant (Kyle Neptune, Jason Williford, etc), unqualified alum (Howard Eisley, Bill Curley, etc), or a safe, veteran mid-major (Bill Coen, John Becker, etc). In other words, their NCAA Tournament drought may soon reach Rutgers-esque levels....

Who will take that dead end job?

Someone with masochistic tendencies. When will Fordham come to their senses.

If they are smarter than they have been in the recent past, (except for Pecora), they will choose someone who is from the Metro area. Plans for a new arena would also help.

Fordham, another Jesuit run school with dysfunctional sports programs. I guess it's just something about the Jesuits.

I am afraid that blaming disliked former HC coaches or athletic administration never gets old for some folks. If past hirings were problematic and if the ultimate cause for such problems has not yet been exposed and rectified, then invoking those past problems is justified.

Not really...unless you are able to change the past. Apportioning blame is a futile game which solves little. In Creighton's book, The Rising Son, there is a line in which a Japanese man says to an American detective: "In Japan we seek to fix the problems. In America you seek only to fix the blame." I don't see that as universally true, but, sadly, many do try so hard to fix blame that little actually gets solved.
"exposed"? What do you mean by that? Were the reasons for past hirings kept as some dark secret?
