Well UNH is sticking with the Interim coach for the upcoming season. Two things probably happened. Either AM doesn't want to coach anymore or she finally wore out her welcome and isn't the top candidate people are looking for.

Looks like a 'Chesney' type hire for Merrimack - Morrone played at South Carolina and recently had a very good run at John Carroll (Jesuit school in Cleveland) which has a very strong D.3 athletic program. AM might find herself out of the coaching sorority at this time, although I hope she finds something.

Why not 2020-21?

If she starts her unemployment comp on 7-1-20, Congress and/or the State will probably extend the usual maximum benefit period if past recessions are a guide. Could be a good year to just chill and stay safe and healthy. AM has a good career winning record. I think highly of her.

Twice that age, but that's not very old!

And her age matters why?

I was just saying she looked young...that is all. Odd hire anyways by UNH saying they haven't done anything under her or the former HC.

Not too many D1 head coaches in major sports under 30, I'll bet you.

Not too many D1 head coaches in major sports under 30, I'll bet you. Agree. This situation doesn't feel out of place because she has been at UNH for ten years as a player and coach, so she is well vetted and probably not seen as inexperienced by the AD. But B. Foley makes a good point that she doesn't bring recent winning to her new position or experience in multiple coaching regimes.

Have to believe budget played a role in Hogan’s hire. In a normal year, her coaching resume (6 years at UNH) probably wouldn’t get you a D1 job. Hope she does well. She might still be the best player at practice in Durham this year.

All the players at practice in Durham this year were recruited by our head coach.

A not unexpected announcement: /photo/1 Yes no surprise in Wildcat Country the only question is who were the finalists. All I've been able to find out is that she nailed her interview but nothing on who the other finalists were. I heard a rumor that Ann applied for the job but haven't been able to confirm that. In all honesty it most likely came down to money in terms of hiring Kelsey I don't think in this current situation they would pay her the same as Maureen but I do think she is qualified for the job. One of the reasons Maureen left as she had one year left on her contract but with the financial hardships UNH is facing due to the current global pandemic she decided to see what else was out there.

I don't think Ann is in danger of being featured on Robin Leach's "Lifestyles of the rich and famous" TV show either. It shouldn't be difficult to match what HC paid for an interim head coach.

Unh only averaged 445 fans per game last season. The men’s team only averaged 553. Given the record of the men, I am honestly surprised they got that many. However, in light of the Covid crisis, we may look back on that number as a "crowd" in the coming season. I see talent and coaches here that can have the men's program on the road back. I wish I could be there out see it! GO CROSS GO!

I wish I could be there out see it! GO CROSS GO! Spray some Windex on your computer screen and it will be like you are sitting on the bench. With no crowd noise we'll hear every coaches instruction being yelled out from both benches. After one of the no-fans UFC MMA matches, the winning fighter credited a suggestion the more experienced TV color guy made to the broadcast audience, that he could hear, for his victory.
