Batchelder can do a lot more than be a spot-up three point shooter. It appears to me he has a nasty crossover dribble and the ability to finish in traffic, albeit at the prep level. Factoid: he began his hs career at St. John’s Prep in Danvers before transferring to Governor Dummer Academy.

Random comparison:- last year's roster listed Ryan Wade at 6'2, 185 Still just a teenager with plenty of time to fill out

"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." - Mike Tyson Like most on this board, I am impressed with the quality of the recruits who have committed(as well as the current roster) and am excited about the future of HC basketball. However, we have to wait & see what happens when these guys "get punched in the mouth." Let's Win!

I can see where I implied he was primarily catch and shoot guy, but after watching more video I agree; he seems to have some nice bounce to his game.

In addition to being a legit D1 talent, Batchelder looks like he also has a background and reputation (reading tweets about commitment) that will make him value the total package of HC and not be jumping into the transfer portal if he has a good Freshman year.
It will be interesting to see if more weight is put on these types of factors (local kid, strong academic high school, etc.) as the transfer portal madness continues.
Obviously it’s important to expand our recruiting footprint beyond Mass/New England, but you’d have to think Batchelder would be less likely to end up in the transfer portal than someone from outside the northeast who never heard of HC until a coach from the staff contacted him.

It appears he reclassified to the class of '22 when he transferred after his soph year to Governor's.

Solid skills, sees the floor well and has a good looking shot!! I just wonder if he is quick enough and fast enough to be a force in the PL...Smooth comes to mind when I see the video...
LOL, just realized that is an oreo compliment.....

Not at all casting aspersions on the young man-AU indeed offered him in June of last year-but we got a commit from PG Eli Stephens of China Springs (TX) HS last September, which got us out of going after Batchelder. Looks like he could be a good one, to be sure.

Just substitute Joe P. for Batchelder and much in your post fits. However the advantage will be Batchelder's freshman season will be the fourth season for our head coach and staff, they will have recruited the player and there shouldn't be any pandemic disruptions in contact between players and coaches. These factors should make a world of difference but the onus is still on the head coach to make his roster work for Holy Cross.

Another highlight reel of Nobili, who may be our top 2022 target now. A lot to like.

If Nobili was shorter, I’d think we were recruiting him as a point guard.

Take Sean Logan and call it a day
If you don’t, I fear we will lose him—the feeling of being needed and wanted goes both ways
My guess is many living and passed like Misters Maloney, Carrington, Guyet, and a few on this board like myself might be disappointed if Sean is not in purple.

With his style, and the way he moves about the court, Nobili doesn't really look like he's 6-10 in the videos. In fact, to me he sort of resembles a Judson Martindale with an afro (his style of play, that is). Curious as to his defensive prowess, and how he can defend in the paint. He certainly has the look of a very good offensive player.

If he's an offeree, can't he agree to come to HC if he wants to? While we think a big makes the most sense, the staff could want another guard, or have offered another big they rank higher on their priority list. So yes, a player could say they are ready and want to commit, but the staff might want to wait to see what other options develop and delay a decision

By all accounts, Batchelder is a great find for Nelson & staff. Goodman & Finkelstein deeming Will's commitment as a boost to the program. With the addition of Batchelder to a backcourt group of RJ, Luc, and Dorsey, it's clear that Nelson is placing an emphasis on the position. We saw the benefit of RJ last year and if we can get more of the same or better from Dorsey & Luc, we'll be in a great position. Can't remember the last time we had as much talent in the backcourt that we have now on paper. The offense should flow better and allow the longer players (Bo, Bubba, and Martindale) to excel. The Bigs will come along with time.

On the video it looks like Batchelder is not afraid of posting up or playing in the paint. I'll try to forgive him for transferring from my alma mater, St. John's Prep.

And which is literally in my backyard! I've thrown back more than a few home run balls that have cleared the short left-field wall over the years. FYI - SJP is Mass D-1 Lacrosse champion this year.

I think SJP also won the state wrestling championship. Overall SJP is a sports powerhouse. For Batchelder to average 21 points a game as a sophomore there is impressive.

St. John's of Shrewsbury certainly upped their game by finally getting in the Catholic Conference. Long overdue.
