Does ANYONE on this highlight video play defense? Not so much on that reel. Here's a longer one where some guys are trying very hard to defend him - but he is lightning-quick off his dribble, driving right or left, very creative on his finishes. Defenders also have to constantly respect his ability to score from deep.
A handful of assists to view, too. We all listened Nelson talk ad nauseam last year about his insistence on unselfishness, so I'm pretty sure that Kyrell will dish plenty - or he won't play.
Glad you posted this- that gym was 2 blocks from the place I worked at for a number of years, next to the Longwood Tennis Club. Our company rented it out for pickup ball. Forgot all about that until I saw that crazy ceiling!

To this non-expert---quickness in a player is a tremendous asset that is multiplied when you add the changes in speed and direction. He seems to put that all together in these highlight reels

Interesting that Kyrell Luc will continue to be coached by a Coach Nelson from Prep (Tom) to College (Brett). Could get a little confusing when their is a mention of Coach Nelson in this thread.
Looking at Rivals Nation, they have outstanding success with the athletes from the class of ‘21, going to solid academic institutions.

I can’t help but believe that if Spring- summer grass roots ball had been held that some high Major would have offered Kyrell. He probably was not offered by them due to his size, probably shorter than the 5’ 10” listed. He certainly has high Major skills and athleticism.

He does appear to have a killer crossover.....quick release on the J too. It's just nice to have a commit to talk about at this point!

I took a look at their schedule from last year but I don't know enough about their non conference opponents, not that I am that well versed on their AA opponents either, to comment on how tough their schedule was. I seem to recall a number of close losses.

Looking at his clips, he reminds me of Calvin Murphy of Niagara. Similar style, speed and leaping ability. (CM Trivia - Murphy did not get a basketball scholarship to attend Niagra. What was his scholarship for and how did he meet that commitment?) Too easy....he was a champion baton twirler

A bit of a stretch including BC when discussing “academic excellence”, no? (Someone had to say it.)

One of the clips shown is followed by highlights of Brimmer vs Bridgton Academy. It appears that the Bridgton Gym is paneled with pine on both the walls and ceiling. Makes sense since Maine's nickname is the "Pine Tree State." "Vacationland" which appears on Maine license plates is the State Slogan. Prep schools often have interesting buildings and architecture since they don't have to follow cookie cutter design models that meet State funding guidelines. I attended a meeting at Worcester Academy one time in a room that was right out of Wayne Manor in Gotham City. I kept waiting for Alfred to appear in a doorway.

Here’s Luc (#1 in green) vs Bensley Joseph (#4 in white) who is committed to Miami (FL) and had quite a few Big East and B1G offers.

He is a nice offensive player, and will have to learn to play much better M2M to please new Coach Nelson! not very good fundamentals on D.....but they can be learned and it is not unusual for a freshman to struggle on D.. Real nice step back jumper, he will need it at his size..good to see him score around the hoop with both hands! Looks like a very good overall player for HC...

He could be the greatest leaper on the HC basketball squad since Schone Malliett in the early 1970's.
