Liam Dvorak was our starter and lasted 1 1/3 innings giving up 7 earned runs - really too bad that he obviously has arm issues and imagine we won’t see much of him the rest of the season. A more reliable arm Eric Lopes followed him but was tagged with 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings The most obvious problem this season is the once reliable pitchers have just not been effective

Need game 2 to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth - Luke Dawson with 8.74 ERA pitching for HC - expect more offense in this one

Kirkpatrick with an 2 RBI single. He also had a great double play turned in this game.
Holy Cross is up 6-0.
Sam is such a great player. I can't wait to watch him in person. I hope he becomes one of the best players HC has ever had.

We’ve added a game at BC Tuesday evening at 5:30. Since we originally had a home and home with them I don’t know why we’re playing at their place again - nevertheless a good game vs ACC competition The real reason they are playing at BC is the fact BC can dictate now where the games are to be played and since UConn canceled on Tuesday with the Eagles, they likely have the TV time on ACC Network. BC is a VERY bad ACC program this year. They have an elite hitter and a pitcher who both should go on Day 1 of the MLB Draft but are 16-21 overall and 6-18 in ACC play including blowing a 9-0 sixth inning lead to Notre Dame on Saturday when the Irish SCORED 12 runs in the eighth!

HC's last home date is a double-header against Lafayette on Sunday 5/9/21. I would love to take my 4 year old grandson who lives in Shrewsbury (he's already been to an HC football game, basketball game, and baseball game pre-pandemic) but I suppose it's too much to hope that there'll be any spectators allowed on a nice outdoors socially-distanced masked-if-neccessary Sunday afternoon even for those who could produce a CDC vaccination card.

I want to go as well. I have the card to. Let's hope we can go.

outdoor mask mandate has been lifted - there is absolutely no reason fans can't attend the Lafayette series !

Home town umpire strike out call on the first HC batter.
BC has played 17 more games then us.
Kirkpatrick misplays a ball. Error BC scores. 2-1 BC
Blum can't see the ball in the Sun. Right past him.
BC scores again on a triple. 3-1 BC.
Can we get a left fielder that can catch a ball in the Sun? Blum use our glove to block the sun. You have sun glasses and a hat on. The ball has dropped right in front of you twice.
Bunt single scores a run. BC 4-1
BC scores again 6-1.
Still believe that we could finish last in the ACC team. With all of their scholarships. BC baseball over rated as it gets.

It’s getting out of hand vs. BC. We trail 7-1 with BC batting in the bottom of the 5th. - lousy defense (3 errors) hasn’t helped

Now 13-1 after 6 - there should be a mercy rule (or coaches’ agreement to make this a 7 inning game) - not sure why we agreed to this game after getting back via bus at 1am Monday morning after playing 4 games in 30 hours

I don't know if BC has a fully funded baseball program like other ACC teams do but would guess it's pretty close to the max HC does not give any athletic aid to baseball players - do any of the non-military schools give any ?

Just for comparison purposes...Hop Riopel (back in the 1960s) had 8 scholarships - 2 per year. He almost always used them for pitchers. Although he did give pone to our catcher in the class of 1967 (Kelly). There were also scholarship players from other sports (Wendelken and others). I am not sure how those count today.
