I don't know if BC has a fully funded baseball program like other ACC teams do but would guess it's pretty close to the max HC does not give any athletic aid to baseball players - do any of the non-military schools give any ? BC is fully funded at the max 11.7 scholarships now. It is terrible that they are so bad in the ACC as they have no excuse with an indoor baseball/softball facility, a new stadium, and a new indoor football facility.

Home town umpire strike out call on the first HC batter. BC has played 17 more games then us. Kirkpatrick misplays a ball. Error BC scores. 2-1 BC Blum can't see the ball in the Sun. Right past him. BC scores again on a triple. 3-1 BC. Can we get a left fielder that can catch a ball in the Sun? Blum use our glove to block the sun. You have sun glasses and a hat on. The ball has dropped right in front of you twice. Bunt single scores a run. BC 4-1 BC scores again 6-1. Still believe that we could finish last in the ACC team. With all of their scholarships. BC baseball over rated as it gets. Usually 25 or so on a roster. AIR, NCAA allows around 11-12 schollys for baseball, yes ? Does HC have baseball schollys ? Who is over rating BC baseball ?? BC WAS ranked early this season before ACC play started up while the chatter was Pelio, Frelick, and Morrisette had a chance to be first round draft picks. Pelio is 3-5 with a 6.66 ERA Frelick is hitting .350 with 5 HR's and 22 RBI Morrisette is hitting .269 with 4 HR and 22 RBI. You see all these articles about so many local kids playing D-1 baseball but a guy mentioned in that article like John West 1-0 and has a 7.65 ERA in ten appearances (9.2 innings)

Just for comparison purposes...Hop Riopel (back in the 1960s) had 8 scholarships - 2 per year. He almost always used them for pitchers. Although he did give pone to our catcher in the class of 1967 (Kelly). There were also scholarship players from other sports (Wendelken and others). I am not sure how those count today. Bud Knittle, Jim Gravel, Pat Bourque and Phil O'Neil come to mind.

Does anyone moonlight on the HC baseball team any more from a scholarship sport? Except, perhaps, seniors who aren't going to play their main sport any more.

They (those with schollies in other sports) used to be the backbone of the team. They played baseball because they loved the sport not for a scholarship.

Well, if we can take advantage of playing at home, we might make a move to the playoffs - originally we were playing a dh at AWP on Saturday and a home dh on Sunday - that has been changed and all four games of the series are at Fitton - and our final 3 game series the following weekend vs. Lafayette is also at home. Opportunity knocks BUT will the administration allow anyone in the stands ?

HC does not give any athletic aid to baseball players - do any of the non-military schools give any ? Bucknell has none. I am told that both Lehigh and Lafayette have a couple, but not more than that.

They (those with schollies in other sports) used to be the backbone of the team. They played baseball because they loved the sport not for a scholarship. Playing a college sport has become a year-long x 3.5 year commitment. Kind of sad. Some of our best hoops players probably never touched a weight. Tangentially, I'd recruit the Power kid from St. John's/Worcester Academy with a promise he could play two sports.

Is the playoff this year decided by wins or precentage?

Since teams are not playing the same number of games I’d have to believe it will be winning pct - or we get in the final 2 weekend series we will have played 23 league games (12 away and 11 home)

That was a huge two outs, with the bases loaded.
Lopes did walk in one run.
HC 12 Army 9
Headed to the bottom of the 8th
13-9
Army with a homer to straight away center. 1 out. Lopes arm is dead from pitching earlier. HC 13 Army 11
1 Out
Army with a hit and Lopes comes back with a 3 pitch strike out.
2 Out
Army with another run. HC 13 Army 12
Game is a tied. HC 13 Army 13
Runners on the corners 2 outs. 4 runs in the 9th. 50 pitches by Lopes. Come on Cross we need this game.
3 outs with the strikeout. The Cross needs to win this game in the bottom of the inning.
Selima hits a shot climbing that high wall. Drops for a single. Earlier he had hit the grandslam over that wall. He also walked off the 1st game. Lets hope he scores the winning run in this game. Army makes a pitching change with 1 out, Selima on 1st.

One out single off the wall down the rf line ....maybe the kid should not have stood there? Or maybe it wouldn't have mattered. Not exactly the best camera shot of the play that's for sure.
On to bonus baseball!

One out single off the wall down the rf line ....maybe the kid should not have stood there? Or maybe it wouldn't have mattered. Not exactly the best camera shot of the play that's for sure. Needed somebody to pull a Jeffrey Maier and reach over that fence and grab that ball. Army has all the momentum with this major comeback. We need to get something going. Army takes the lead. 15-13 I hate Army baseball so much. Cmon Ed weak pitching change moves in this game. 16-13 3 hits in a row. Come on. DANGER DANGER HOLY CROSS CHOKING HAZARD 11-1 lead....................... 4 runs in the 9th 4 runs in the 10th 17-13 Finally. Better get the bats going. 1 Out, Dellacono with a double. Hope it sparks something. Go Cross Go! HC scores 17-14 2 Outs man on first.

Crushing loss. You need to pull out all cards to hold onto that game, even if it means bringing in a Sunday starter to close the door.
