How much money would baseball have to raise? It would take about $4.7 million to endow three full scholarships.

Prior to 1993, Army and Navy were in the Ivy League, known as the Eastern Independent Baseball League.
The schools did not dominate by any means after 1996, winning a combined 3 titles after that year. Not exactly dominance and non-scholarship opponents.

For those worried about AWP and the USNA having an advantage, think where the pL would be w/o these two institutions as members in all sports except for FB. This is fair but in baseball they win every year. At least in basketball, they don't dominate like they probably should. Just not basketball schools. Must be because of the Providence College baseball connection

This is now a tougher matchup than Laf would have been - the Mtn Hawks are 18-15 overall and 14-9 in 1st place in the league's south division. Playoff picture is muddled because teams have played a different number of league games but right now we're out - will have to win at least 3 of these games and have other results fall into place for us to get in

Am I reading correctly that before this change the Crusaders controlled their own destiny with three games against the team ahead of them for a playoff spot? How could the league have made a change like this? Ridiculous.

It makes total sense - we’ve played Lafayette 6 times and are 1-5 vs. them - Lehigh is the only team we haven’t played and we’re getting them at home - time to step up and play better to get into the postseason.

In this Covid season, the league came up with guidelines prior to the season as to how it would deal with certain situations. One of the guidelines was to make an effort to have every school play every opponent for at least one series. . As you pointed out, HC had not played Lehigh the entire season, and Bucknell had not played Lafayette the entire season. Thus it was almost certain they would make that scheduling change.

I suppose that makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. I was kinda sorta hoping our nine would have a strong weekend, and sneak into the playoffs. Wait ‘til next year!!

Of course they dominated the league they went into. My apologies.

UConn's 2010 and 2011 teams were top 25. Roster included at least six future MLB players: George Springer, Matt Barnes, Scott Oberg, Nick Ahmed, Mike Olt, John Andreoli. Also a number who advanced fairly high in minor league ball.

back to 2021 - we're playing Merrimack on the road in the rain - watched the 1st inning (that's all I can take) we scored an unearned run in the top of the inning our PL rookie of the week, Alex Bryant was our starter - he walked 5, hit a batter, there were two sac flies - he lasted 2/3 of an inning - down 3-1 after one
