Oskee is named after WA's school fight song.

Worcester Academy' Oskee fight song should not be confused with the more famous Oskee-Wow-Wow fight song of the University of Illinois.

Old Princeton yells her tiger Wisconsin her varsity And they give the same old Rah! Rah! Rah! At each University But the yell that always thrills me And fills my heart with joy Is the good old Oskee wow-wow That they yell at Illinois
Oskee wow-wow Illinois Our eyes are all on you Oskee wow-wow Illinois Wave your Orange and your blue Rah! Rah! When the team trots out before you Ev'ry man stand up and yell Back the team and give [opponent's name] Oskee wow-wow Illinois

I think we've talked about the ultimate one-game player on this board before: John Paciorek. His brother Tom played for many years in the NL. John got called up by Houston in 1963 and played in the last game of the season. He came to the plate 5 times, walked twice, and got three singles, scoring 4 runs and getting 3 RBIs. Alas, he got hurt and never made it back to the majors as his minor league play after that one game was sub-optimal. An unusual 1 game players story involves the Detroit Tigers during Cobb's day. If I recall correctly Cobb had been disciplined and the rest of the team refused to play without him , So the team went to a sandlot game and hired 9 guys to play the one game so they would not have to forfeit--something like that. I'll have to do some research and get the facts. John Paciorek was one of 3 Paciorek brothers to play in MLB. The family was from Hamtramck, Michigan, a small city totally surrounded by the City of Detroit with (at that time) a primarily Polish-American population. The two older brothers (John and Tom) played at St. Ladislaus HS and the youngest brother Jim played at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s HS, originally founded by the Polish-American community. Tom had by far the longest and most successful MLB career of the three. Tom Paciorek used to do the color commentating with Hawk Harrelson for the Chicago White Sox many years ago. Those two are close buddies.

I know everyone is hot and heavy for Graham. I think he would be a nice addition too, but would be more gung ho about reeling him in if it were Bo and Octave coming off of season ending injuries, instead of Louth and Rabs. That's why I would rather see a Son of Malachi or Son of Keister.

Re: Graham. Hopefully that's a good indicator in terms of judging talent accurately. Next time, actually sign the kid, however.

For the immediate future, I'd rather see the 13th scholarship go to a big who can contribute right away. I know that is asking a lot but I think we are pretty well-manned at guard/small forward. This 6'8" kid from Cali who appears to be very well-qualified academically is interesting. One drawback is there is a possibility the kid doesn't own any winter clothes.

Who knows if we're seriously interested in the "Cali kid". It doesn't appear that we're going to get any competitive recruit now. No chance we'll get a big who can contribute right away so why not hold it for a '24 that Paulsen can work for awhile. Maybe Paulsen thinks we're in good shape with Louth and Rabs plus Ryan?

Doesn’t that make you wonder how healthy Louth and Rabs are? Ever the optimist, I’m thinking they both are at 100% and can finally show us that they can contribute consistently

It would help with class balancing if we could get someone to put next to Caleb. I really want to be optimistic about Louth and Rabs, but the track record.....

Presumably DP has a pretty good sense of how our 2024 class might be shaping up based on the kids we’re recruiting and what his spidey sense tells him about which ones we are likely to land. If he thinks he can put together a strong class, that’s the one that’s going to make or break his tenure at HC. No sense continuing to chase whatever kids might still be hanging around without a home for next year.

He is 5’5” Unusual to shoot better from 3 than 2. Maybe I’m not referencing the correct player but Gaston roster says Merriwether is 6-0, 180.
