Except for post season Mo Cassara on the call Decent chance we miss out on the PLT. If we go 3-13/4-12 this year and finish out of the playoffs how will the board respond to the results for the season?

Probably not that surprised. Six freshmen, not much experience in the classes above them, inexperienced head coach.

Rarely-š± but I would argue that a lack of consensus is a good thing for a fan/opinion board Anyway it was just a question for a Sunday morning conversation since we we have about 6 hrs to wait for the game.On this Q not sure there is a right or wrong answer with so many variables and gray space

Decent chance we miss out on the PLT. If we go 3-13/4-12 this year and finish out of the playoffs how will the board respond to the results for the season? Weāve gotten more athletic. The young guys show a lot of promise except the bigs who are a large TBD at this point. Our games have generally been competitive. Not sure Nelson has shown us the ability to adapt his plan to the talent on the floor or the opponent. Heāll have all his own recruits next year plus Wade and heāll be in Year 3 so weāll get a better sense next year if his system with his guys with another year of experience is likely to work in the PL. If weāre below .500 again next year, Iād say itās time to start the thread about our next coach recognizing Nelson will probably be here a full 5 years as the school is unlikely to want to pay multiple MBB coaches at the same time.

I'm pretty interested in seeing how the team plays today. If they come out flat and get blown out it 's a bit of a red flag on the coaching side. If they come out and compete like they did yesterday, even if they lose, I think I'll feel much better. I would really like to see Rabinovich and/or Louth contributing.

The mystery around Louth grows. If he canāt give us 5-7 minutes of post defense off the bench, that makes me a little nervous about where he is. I know he reportedly had some limitations back home in terms of what he could do but heās been here since before the season started so that is an excuse that probably doesnāt hold much water at this point.

Agree that it's time to see Louth if he's not dealing with some type of injury. He's been here a month now and should be comfortable with the schemes we are running. Even if he's not in top condition yet I don't see why he can't give us a few minutes a couple of times each half. We're desperate for another big body that can at the very least throw his weight around and use up some fouls.

With all of the complaining about the defense, I am surprised that people want someone on the floor who the coaching staff appears to think is not ready for D1 basketball (for good reason, if so, given the COVID issues). If I am remembering correctly, Lout arrived right around the new year, meaning he has been with the team for 4-5 weeks. With this current back-to-back weekend schedule, I assume the team takes Mondays off and has a light practice on Friday to prep for the weekend. Assuming there are three āfull practicesā Tues-Thurs (which may even be a bit of a stretch), and going on the high end of him having been here for 5 weeks, that would mean heās had 15 D1 practices, all coming after limited work since COVID started last spring and while the team is preparing for games (meaning there is a different structure than the preseason when there is more flexibility for development). Sorry, but it doesnāt sound an alarm for me that Louth may not be ready for D1 basketball after 15 practices (max).

BBC hope you're right and there's nothing to see here. I'll give you credit for one thing you're a 100% guy prior regimes did absolutely nothing right and whatever the current staff does shouldn't be questioned because they inherited a bad situation.

The coaches see the players work every practice..They know weather a player can contribute or needs more work...Every player HC recruits looks great on video, many recruits are somewhat projects, takes a few seasons to get good enough to contribute..If they were 4 or 5 star recruits , that would be different.... Who was the last big to come in and contribute in a big way as a freshman?

One of our regular posters said Louth arrived here the weekend we were supposed to open the season with BU. Those two games were pushed back two days so right out of the gate, the first week of the season probably only had one real practice. Weds was probably an off day and Friday a light day before the weekend series with Army. Fifteen practices for him is probably a stretch. Hopefully, he has become very familiar with the state of the art weightroom in the Luth. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I guess one thing we can agree on is Louth has not done anything in practice to force his way onto the court.

I am confident Louth is not ready based on his failure to play at all despite our extremely thin frontcourt rotation. I think itās fair to be concerned that heās not ready to give us a few minutes of credible effort each half under the circumstances. Heās not playing basketball for the first time. And heās 6ā8ā. Maybe heās hurt. If not, Iām a little concerned. Not a lot. But definitely a little.
