Good Morning All, Thought I’d reestablish an account and hop back on since its been a while (~2006-2009 since I last posted), especially as it relates to this week’s game as I’ve been traveling to Sioux Falls,SD on business for 12 years, have several clients that are SDSU alums and one that played football there ~99-01’. I’m an HC football alum, been based in the Midwest for work since 2009 and part of the Gridiron Club, 90-wide program etc. I’m so encouraged by the investments made into this program, the quality of kids (both as players and people), coaches, administration, facilities etc. So a couple things about this week. I’m driving up with a crew of supportive friends Saturday morning. I spoke to the SDSU ticket office yesterday and reserved a “pod” (row) of seats (I believe you can reserve up to 8 or 10.) For those flying in, Sioux Falls Regional is the way to go (although at times it can be pricey depending upon where you’re flying in from. Most likely layover is Chicago or Minneapolis) While capacity is 4K for the game (same as SDSU has set all year even though NCAA sets guidelines for playoff games), the ticket office said they’ve had between 2,800-3,000 at most home games this season because folks will reserve a “pod” of 8 seats but only use 5-6. Said they might get over 3k this week with good weather. I have some thoughts on the game which I will share in a separate post. Any plans for an HC tailgate for those attending?? I know the drive from Chicago is only 6 hours (same as it is here from KC) Hopefully the HC Chicago contingent will have a good showing. Let’s go Purp!Midwestsader05 good to hear from you. As a member of the 90 Wide feel free to find us some talented Midwestern talent to introduce to Coach Chesney and especially Coach James who recruits in that area. Now that we have some football name recognition it should be easier to introduce the program to kids in the Midwest. Then we can really show them how the 90 Wide Program under the Leadership of Larry Doyle and now Artie Grutt really works.

For those interested in COVID test results, two positives reported for Monday, and four positives reported for today. The four positives reported today were almost certainly of individuals tested on Monday. The two positives reported for Monday were probably of individuals tested early on Monday, with HC receiving results before midnight Monday. HC does not test at The Jo on Sunday; HC may test at the Hotel Quarantine on Sunday. Over 1500 tests reported for yesterday and today. HC now reports positive tests for those students who are tested by a third party. However, I doubt any athletes would be in this group. Why do you doubt any athletes are involved? Softball just got shutdown for COVID. Because student athletes are tested by Holy Cross, not by an external third party. Students who get tested by HC are tested for free. That may not be the case if a student is tested by a third party. Who these students who are being tested by a third party are is not clear. They do not live on campus, and I assume they do not live in HC-leased apartments off-campus. Those who live off-campus and have access to campus are tested by HC, which is why the webcam frequently reveals student cars either parked by The Jo or dropping off students to be tested at The Jo.

Hearing from SDSU's sources that the game is now sold-out. Little bit surprised SD has limited crowd sizes at events as Gov. Noem has been one of the more outspoken critics of covid-related restrictions etc.

The ncaa dictated 25% capacity for tickets although that has been the standard for SDSU as well this spring season. Gov Noem likely will attend though as the family ranch is only 40 min away and she is a graduate of SDSU.

How 'bout we not.
HC2020 posted in this sub-forum that the football team would be COVID tested on Monday. A brief discussion ensued as to (1) whether test results would be available by the end of yesterday's NCAA deadline for schools to withdraw from the FCS playoff because of positive COVID tests in Tier One; (2) what happens if a school withdraws later this week?
My reporting of test results was in response to that thread.

Gov Noem likely will attend though as the family ranch is only 40 min away and she is a graduate of SDSU. 25% of 19,300 capacity = 4,750. But in your two home games, you averaged about half of this. With a student body of over 11,000, this is surprising.

A little disappointing that was the attendance especially because the weather was perfect those days. They were back to back home games and in the middle was spring break so that affected student turnout. Add in the Summit League Tournament for BB was going on the first weekend. I think because the weather is so unpredictable even with forecasts(we’re supposed to have snow today, sunny and 38 right now) that many people felt it safer to watch from home.

We have a good pipeline established in both KC Metro (both KS and MO) and St. Louis. Gabe Guild (Shawnee Mission, KS) and Miles Alexander (Overland Park, KS) obviously both KC products...along with others over the years from Rockhurst HS (which is the Dallas Jesuit of KC). Lucas Nikolaisen was from DeSmet HS in STL and current Sophmore Tyler Purdy is from STL Country Day. Should be More to come with the Jesuit HS constituency in both metros and KS public schools in the KC metro area being some of the best academically in the country (Blue Valley, Shawnee Mission, Olathe etc)

I’m hearing that HC is contemplating bringing the whole squad to SD for the game. I believe the NCAA subsidies a significant portion of that cost, that would be the right thing to do IMO.

Don’t think Asante will be available this Saturday again. Ouch. Said on his IG story that he gets out of quarantine on Saturday. Hope we can win so he can play the next week. He is a playmaker and a difference maker. One of the best wide receivers in the country.

I applaud anyone making the trek from the Northeast but my guess is the vast majority of HC fans (who aren't parents etc) will come from alums from the relatively nearby cities of Minneapolis, Chicago, KC etc

Fauci needs to go public about this game. Make a wager with an infectious disease specialist from Pierre or Sioux City.

Of course I knew all of that. Sioux City IA is not far from SD and is overrun with infectious disease specialists.

If the Patriots accepted the charter fee that the NCAA travel consultant computes and/or met the lowest competitive bid for the charter flight it would be a good investment for the Pats because the Patriots plane landing at the airport would have a much better chance of making the evening news than an Allegiant jet. The Pats have a modest national following who purchase merch so publicity is good. Their two planes served them well when they brought in PPE from China.
