UMass Amherst has flirted with good seasons in the past, but seemed to have only flash in the pan success as members of Hockey East (in 2005-2006, freshman Jon Quick managed to have a .920 save percentage on a mediocre team, then led the Minutemen to the NCAA Regional Finals the next year). Their turnaround as well as Mark Dennehy's Merrimack team that experienced somewhat sustained success in the early 2010's is an inspiration. Each year the HC women seem to improve a bit as better recruits come in, style of play adjusts to competition, etc. I would rather be a doormat in Hockey East for a few years but show gradual improvement. We seem to lose out on similar recruits (guys who might be a 2nd or 3rd line player for us choose Merrimack to be a 4th liner or a scratch) and have no shot at the best players. Liam Connors, a small but shifty forward capable of putting up good assist numbers and probably some goal numbers, flipped his commitment from BU to Holy Cross (probably something to do with the covid extra years) but it seems rare to have some decomitt from a HEA school and go to AHA. UMass dropped hockey after the 1978-1979 campaign and restarted their program in 1993-1994 and joined Hockey East in 1994-1995. Well, AIC had a few kids that quit at Providence recently in Jeff Baum and they have added Jake Kucharski for this season. AIC has quite a few transfers this year on the roster from Robert Morris, Minnesota State (Mankato), RPI, and Alaska-Fairbanks, BU likely told Connors he wasn't going to see ice time when you look at his numbers being so poor against the better players in his age group. www.eliteprospects.com/player/422070/liam-connors

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here; just a matter of personal preference. With basketball, I would much rather have the HC basketball experience from 1995 on than Fordham's experience in the A-10. But that's just me Given the overall body of work, I would agree. I also like the fact that the concept of a true student athlete is more true in the Patriot League than the A-10. However, just looking at a much smaller sample size when HC has been at the bottom of the PL, it might be better to be at the bottom of the A-10. Even then we still have hope. We sit and talk/dream about getting to the PL final and even winning it in the short term. Fordham fans probably dream about a .500 season on conference.

HE has all of these rink size rules. I was flipping through my cable listings and saw NESN+ has PC vs UNH AT Schneider Arena. It looks like it’s about one third full of its 3000 capacity.

PC SOLD 2227 seats and the place holds only 2900 and some change. Some reason people buy tickets there and don't use them. Also it was a blowout too. That PC number is still better than Holy Cross got at the DCU Center with three local schools and Holy Cross.

UNH is horrible. Watched briefly. The puck never left their defensive end and one of their defensemen literally gave PC a goal.
Aside from letting Dick Umile stay around too long, what else has transpired up there?
Two of my best friends were UNH hockey fanatics and I always rooted for them. They hardly go any more.

Perhaps they decided they're not in the entertainment business?
[Much as I dislike the out of context manner in which that quote is used, I couldn’t resist 😁😉]

Football 3-5 this year. No postseason appearances since 2017. Anything else?

3-5 this year. No postseason appearances since 2017. Anything else? You asked, I answered. One plays in a newer football stadium while the Whitt is aging quickly and they aren't updating it. The attendance for PC/UNH on Saturday was 3,134 and there was no way 2k people were in the building from the stream I saw. Postseason appearances doesn't mean the interest is down....The official box score from the Richmond game had 6341 fans in a driving rain storm. They have a game against Dartmouth that drew over 15k and the JMU game drew over 17k THIS YEAR. Would you like more examples?

Examples of what? ...of attendance at games to see a team that few (other than you) care about? No thanks.
