I was actually told he’s now in the portal. Not trying to spread rumors but I’ve heard from a couple people he’s not planning on returning. Not shocking to me. We are playing with fire at the QB position next year. Run Szluka all year, have a high risk of injury, and we’re in trouble. Don’t run Sluka, he’ll need to take a mqjor step forward as a thrower for the offense to be dangerous. For all the great recruiting across the rest of the roster, this is the most important position in football.

Could be true. Good that they have another full year of development. Hopefully Pesansky develops a lot over the next year to provide a good backup and Forcucci is a diamond in the rough.

Someone suggested ? The staff believes Pessansky was the best natural QB this year -any truth to that?

Our super seniors are more talented. We hope, because we will have a baker's dozen of them.

Reading the replies to this tweet, it looks like Connor Degenhardt will have a sixth year overall and second at New Haven next season. Couldn't be happier for Crusaders who graduate from HC and then get to keep playing in graduate school. Happy for players who choose to defer graduation for one semester and become super seniors at HC also, but it's up to each player to make that choice.

Interesting 2021 season for the two off. linemen that transferred after last season - Jack Bowler was a backup and appeared in every game for Richmond, while Brian Foley was not a factor on a poor Duke team and appeared in only 2 of 12 games - but, you can't fault either one for reaching to the next level and (I assume) getting a full ride for a year of grad studies - I wonder if they will stay and pay for the 2nd year of their respective programs.

Coach Smith tweeted out - he'd love to take Brekke back, but they can't take 6th years at HC.

According to the Duke roster profile Foley is in the masters program in the Fuqua School of Business - not sure there would be any two semester masters programs at such a prestigious school

Pesansky is the future right now but the kid coming in as a freshman next year from Chicago Mark Forcucci is very talented. He won the 7A title this year against a powerful St. Rita’s.

That's a one year degree which provides an overview of business topics. Its perfect for someone like Foley who it appears had a poli sci degree to jumpstart a business career. My daughter has a couple of friends with degrees from that program. One went from there to Goldman and is now at a hedge fund. It is not an MBA but is still a valuable degree.

Marco has the best recommendation you could get, from Chesney himself, in so many words: "I play both of them because neither one of them lost the job".

I think we will see the NEC programs pass the Patriot League in the coming seasons as they are able to get grad transfers into their schools.

In general, this extra free COVID year of eligibility will put liberal arts college like Holy Cross (and most of the PL) at a disadvantage compared to schools with grad programs over the next 2-3 years. There are only so many guys who are willing to slow down their undergraduate degree to stay here for a 5th as opposed to finding opportunities to pursue graduate programs at a bigger school. While on scholarship.
