RMU had a pretty good freshman this year, Randy Hernandez from Miami. I do not know how the academics and other things stack up, but he could be the best available forward on the RMU team looking at D1. They also had a defenseman (Kramer) and a goalie (West) on the AHA all-rookie team.

Curious, I Googled RMU and two numbers (if true) jumped out at me:
1. Acceptance rate: 85.6% 2. Endowment: 36 million
Both are red flags.

"The decision to discontinue the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs was made based on an analysis which included scholarships and operating costs, and the necessary investments to maintain and improve the current facility," the school said in a statement. "The university also wanted to align our athletic offerings more closely with other similar nationally-ranked universities of our size."
Then get rid of your football team that plays at Joe Walton stadium. They get 2,000 fans a game if they are lucky.

They have about 3500 undergrads....so slightly bigger than Holy Cross.

The professional hockey team in Pittsburgh actively supports and partners with the local D-1 college hockey program. In Worcester not so much.

RMU is bringing back M/W Hockey for the 2023-2024 season. Will apply for reinstatement into Atlantic Hockey for the Men and the CHA for Women.

Even though it goes against HC's interest, I hope the AHA does not charge RMU money beyond filing fees with the NCAA and throws the door open with a big welcome back. There is far too much acrimony and "Me, Me, Me!" going on in college athletic conferences these days.
Same thing if Assumption ever wanted to move up to the AHA for hockey only. "Welcome aboard!" and maybe we'd sell a few more tickets at the Hart.

The AHA is neat, a one trick pony started to fill a need and operating closer to it's mission statement than the big boys, if like me you doubt the words "Manifest Destiny" were included in the original charters of the P-5 conferences. The new low level D-1 women's hockey league that some of HC's former foes moved up to has the same address as the AHA in Chelsea, MA so perhaps they share staff.

The AHA is headquartered in Winthrop, not Chelsea. I got lost in both of those fine cities years ago when I decided to save the tunnel toll and take an alternative route home from Logan using my sense of direction. Never again.

Bonus points if anyone can name one HC basketball player from each of those fine metropolises * *looked up the plural of metropolis and it's not metropoli.

A century ago Chelsea was a wealthy community, not a poor one like it is today. Here is a chant the fans of Chelsea High School's opponents would use to make fun of them:
"Football, baseball, swimming in the tank, We've got the money and we keep it in the bank, Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea!"
As repeated often by an old timer in my youth whenever Chelsea was mentioned.

Funny reading back on this thread. According to colonialsportsnetwork.com/56565/sports/watn-rmu-hockey/, and despite the board expert’s source from his little league team, 11 Robert Morris players transferred to D1 teams. Difficult task ahead for Robert Morris to get back to the D1 level.

And 6 played D3, one played club, and 7 with eligibity left were so good they aren't playing anywhere.

Difficult task ahead for Robert Morris to get back to the D1 level. Pardon my ignorance, but who is the “board expert” on hockey here? Considering they canceled the program after the academic year and with no warning, I am kind of impressed that they got so many D1 transfers, and I am certainly glad we got Matt Guerra to come to HC. I do agree they have a very difficult task in front of them and the league should not just wave them back in unless there is a long term commitment from the RMU administration to keep the program that is not dependent on the Pittsburgh community funding the program.

Cameron Herbert is playing for St. Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia.
St. Francis Xavier played a Basketball exhibition game in the Hart Center in November of 2006. Entertaining with the X-Men chanting throughout the entire game.
