HC could employ an arbitrage strategy of sorts. Add a couple of scholarships to get a couple of 2022s that wouldn't normally be available to us without the Covid logjam while not guaranteeing (but hopefully) being able to sustain the extra scholarships permanently. Why not take advantage of the temporary inefficient market and postpone some capital improvements for a year to get more bang for the buck in recruiting this year? Once you get the better players fundraise like heck via the CAF to keep the extra scholarships with some improved performance to make your case. What type of players would commit if their scholarship might only be for one year? The scholarships would have to be for four years, but with no guarantee that there` could be two extra scholarships for players entering in 2023.

She’s now at a school that takes their softball seriously - the Rams have been to the NCAA’s often in recent years - curious if she will make more or less at Fordham

Even as an associate head coach, she will probably make a bit more. BostU and Fordham appear to include a cost-of-living premium for their coaches based on locale..

Interesting career move. She will also be closer to her roots as she is a graduate of Immaculate HS in Northern NJ.

Just curious. Where is Immaculate HS in NJ? Is that Immaculate Heart Academy or Immaculate Conception?

I just heard the assistant softball coach resigned and her last day was today. With ADMB on his way out and the traditional window for Fall games a couple of weeks away, this is not good news.

Any posters familiar with coaching softball ? The asst is an HC grad too - she must have seen the disregard for minor sports up close and decided to get out

I just read the bio of assistant coach Kelsey Christenson '16. She appears ready to take over the program as interim head coach after two years as a volunteer assistant and a Masters degree in coaching and leadership at Michigan State and three years as assistant coach at HC. It's understandable she could receive a better offer and also understandable that ADMB might like to sign a proven winning skipper but disappointing to lose her.
After all, many of us have been advocating for HC to upgrade the coaches so maybe they are trying to do just that and not have D-1 HC be the first head coaching gig for someone in his or her mid-twenties.

The only remaining coach, who was a volunteer assistant; is at most 24 years old.

The now former HC assistant is the new pitching coach at Providence. Good move for her going Patriot League to Big East and from a team with 2.2 scholarships when most others in the PL have 10+ to a more level playing field.

Don't even have to relocate if you don't want to and will be in position to apply for HC head coach in the next search.

It’s a shame that the Providence College Baseball team does not have a real stadium to use.
Oh!,
I forgot Providence College no longer sponsors Baseball.....America’s pastime.

My peer/boss (don’t ask) was a star pitcher for PC and was drafted and played minor league ball until he blew out his arm which ended his career down in NC.
He was livid when PC gave up baseball and swore he’d never give the school a penny.

When was the last time Holy Cross played in a Final Four in any sport??? Seems like it worked out pretty well for Providence with multiple teams winning a national championship in the last ten years.

Providence was my first choice back in 1963...but my mother said it did not sound "Catholic enough" and I went with my second choice - Holy Cross. I thought "at least they have football." I have never regretted that choice for a minute. First time I saw HC was the day I registered.

Your mother was smart!
My first recollection of Holy Cross was when I was about 5 years old and Fr. Hart showing my father (whose wedding was officiated by Fr. Hart) and my brother and me the “new” field house. Recalled the usage of “Quonset Hut” but probably didn’t really make any association until I moved to Rhode Island.
I was torn between Fairfield and Holy Cross but family tradition was the deciding factor. So, my two sons have split the difference with one graduating from HC and the other Fairfield.
It all worked out in the end.😊
