You are a better Presidential Historian than that guy on CNN who was always wringing his hands during the last administration. I always thought "Poppy" was the nickname that GHWB's grandchildren gave him. You've unearthed a reference from 1946.

Re: quarterbacks, Siderman had outstanding stats versus Merrimack--would love to hear what observers have to say about how he played. Will we see more of him at Yale?

He throws better which is normally what a QBs primary responsibility is.

Siderman's TD throw was right on the money. He throws a good ball. I can see why Chesney has a decision that is tough to make on the QB position. If you add the freshman, Pesansky from Florida, he has three good prospects fighting for the QB starting slot. I feel the QB position will become a deep depth position for the Holy Cross football team. The new recruit from Illinois for next year is having an outstanding season so far and he is maintaining his commitment to the Chicago media. Beat Yale !!

What importance is his commitment to the Chicago media and what role would he play for them.

Bush was known to his family as “Poppy.” His wife said her husband was named after his maternal grandfather, who was known as “Pops,” so the younger Bush was called “Little Pops.” The nickname evolved into Poppy, which Bush “hated as he got older, but it was hard to break such a long-standing habit,” Barbara Bush wrote in her memoir. But his grandchildren knew him as “Gampy,” a name he embraced.

He is maintaining his Holy Cross verbal commitment to the media asking about other offers coming his way now. Let's hope this continues until signing day.....good press for HC in the Chicago area.

Sounds like back in my day. Mike Cunnion was the better passer, but he lost out to a QB who could run and pass..Jack Lentz.

Here’s the thing, if they are equal quality in their “specialty,” tough choice.
But it may come down to is Sluka a better runner than Siderman is a passer? And, just as importantly, which has the better judgement?
That I leave to Coach Chesney.

In the end, a program like ours cannot waste a great athlete.
Sluka's gotta play somewhere if he's not the qb.

They will have 3 QB’s with 3 years eligibility plus a new guy. I would not think all of these guys return next year.

Well, we have seen a QB moved to a wide receiver before...perhaps one or more of these talented athletes will find a new position.

That kind of move makes sense if you have a very good QB and a terrific (QB) athlete languishing at second or third string. And, of course, a need for a very good athlete elsewhere.
Let’s figure out the first part of that first.

Hearing that the team is taking a total of 72 players to Yale and that they are leaving on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday morning. Perhaps the coaches feel a night together out of town will help focus them on the task at hand.

Final score predictions for Yale game? Yale is an unknown. However, I believe they have had some outstanding recruited classes of late. HC is an unknown, too. Looked good against UConn. But the Merrimack game was a disaster. I tip my cap to Merrimack but the performance by HC was terrible. Hard to get a reading on HC for this game. Prediction: Yale 31 - HC 10.

Yale will be ready for us... Coach Reno is a Worcester/Central MA guy... his coaching specialty appears to be DBs. He is probably well acquainted with Coach Chesney's approach to QB's/style of playing the game.
Has Siderman started a series outside the 20?
