Odd that the games in the Lehigh Valley are on weekday nights. The Saturday game at West Point looks interesting as do the games in Philly.

Does anyone want to take a crack at projecting the minutes by player & position?

Too many unknowns at this point to even hazard a guess. I have to be honest and say that I do not care about individual minutes, since it is the complete "team" that is on the court that matters. I also agree with those who say it is more important to see who will be on the court in the end of the game than at the start.

At homecoming on Saturday, I attended a barbecue on the baseball stadium concourse. Over in one corner, was the entire basketball team, coach Kennedy and coach Nelson and his family. While I have not seen any of the players in person prior to that day, Gates looks like an absolute stud. Had a brief conversation with Martindale by the cookie tray. He has also beefed up. He seemed quite pumped about the upcoming season and was confident they would be much improved. Time will tell.

If HC has the type season most of us hope they have, it could be a long season for those who are perpetual pessimists. Count on hearing about the record of past seasons, and about the number of transfers. At least we don't still hear the repetition of FCMB's record at MSM from those same pessimists.

I may be one of the ones to whom you are referring but as I've posted many times before,
1. I'm upset with Nelson. My belief is that simply based on the numbers of players that left, at least some of them were run off so don't tell me how inexperienced the players were. 2. I'm upset with the lousy record his two seasons (1.5 if you prefer) which were exponentially worse than under Carmody and probably under any HC basketball coach 3. Unlike some, I don't give him a pass for those seasons. He's the coach. He's responsible. It comes with the territory regardless of difficulties and obstacles. 4. I am rooting for the team to do well this coming season 5. I've stipulated that I'll be the first guy to jump on the Nelson bandwagon if he proves me wrong 6. I'm lighting metaphorical candles that he does prove me wrong.

OK, wiseguy, you asked for it. Here comes another sader1970 story;
Had an Irish pastor in the Syracuse suburbs who grew up with a bunch of Eye-tal-yuns as my grandfather would call them in Utica. He wanted to explain to some of us parishioners why there were no votive candles in our church.
One of his childhood buddies was, to put it politely, “connected.”
So his buddy comes to him a number of years before and says “my sister Maria is flying to Italy on vacation. Here’s $100 so please light some candles in your church so that she has a safe trip.
She goes and comes back from Italy safely.
Maria makes the trip to Italy every year and her brother gives our pastor $100 each year for him to light candles for her safe sojourn.
After about 5 years it dawns on our pastor that Maria is traveling safely and that rather lighting candles, God might be just as happy if the priest lit cigars.
So, for many years thereafter the priest bought his favorite cigars and lit them for Maria’s safe journeys and lo and behold the cigars worked just as well as the candles! 🕯🙏🏻🤷🏻♂️
So, my candle lighting will be metaphorical as my church in Rhode Island also doesn’t have votive candles.

I remember when my mother was in hospital in Florence, Italy. I went to the chapel to light a candle for her. There were no actual candles, only rows of electric lights in red glass dishes. You could turn one on when you made an offering...so I did just that. As I knelt in prayer I saw a little man come out from the sacristy and go along the lights, turning them all off. I was upset so I went up when he left and and turned them back on. I know that even tea candles burn for at least an hour. I thought turning them off in under 5 minutes was a bit too "thrifty."

Yep, believe it was in the Cathedral in San Francisco (or San Diego?) where I saw the electric “candles.” Thought it was tacky but my wife was praying, I think it was for her ill mother, and insisted we “participate” so just another reason to keep my candle lighting metaphorical. 😉
To the point that I hope this is a true turn-around season.

Come on, Crucis! HC may not have their own fire department but you know as well as I that the Worcester FD is at the bottom of Loyola/McCarthy Road. I pass it every time I go on campus.

I know of the fire station on McKeon Road, that was built on property donated by HC. Fortunately it provides a higher level of safety being almost on campus. 😊 I was referring to having a Grotto at The Joyce Center in Holden. Battery operated candles possibly would be the solution and the Grotto could be built. Pick up a candle that was not on, and flip the switch on the bottom. No muss, no fuss. Keeping it nice and clean without wax dripping down the side.

OK. Pretty sure St. Joseph’s had candles “back in the day.”
You may resume your discussion of the upcoming season, 😊
(Sorry I read your prior post too quickly. Not sure a Contemplative Center is appropriate fir candles electric or otherwise)

I don't recall Nelson using excuses, or speaking that much at all, but using inexperience as an excuse this year would be like the kid who kills his parents and then asks the court for sympathy because he's an orphan.

Sometimes a you'll see a new coach has a bunch of freshmen and sophomores playing.
You'll pretty much know he's a crummy coach if two years later he still has a bunch of freshmen and sophomores playing.

Not if there is a large amount of those players in the portal.
