You'll get there but the esteemed broadcaster who enjoyed that description of West Point unfortunately will not. Let's jump on this scheduling opportunity. Who would we have to pay to make their game with us disappear?

We are scheduled to host Yale on the date in question.

has the PL proposed that Army & Navy schedule a PL team every year/routinely?
clearly this benefits PL programs... if so would A&N want to play just the upper tier PL programs?
Is the IL a factor a here?

Army is playing Bucknell this year and Colgate next year. After that, no PL opponents scheduled and their schedule has lots of dates already filled for the next decade. They are scheduled to play UConn and UMass almost every year for the next decade.

We are scheduled to host Yale on the date in question. More of a general comment that Army WP has a game to fill. Of course, matching dates is always a factor in something like this. And they may need to schedule a 1A team to not have it affect their bowl eligibility; especially given they are no longer a doormat.

Interestingly, when we beat Army in 1986, they had just won a week earlier at Tennessee.

Do we have an AD to make the call to AWP ? Every year there are last minute changes to a few FBS schedules - maybe Yale has another option for that date ? These types of things can work out with the right people in charge

Interestingly, when we beat Army in 1986, they had just won a week earlier at Tennessee. I recall that one year in the 1970's (maybe ill get ambitious and hunt down the proof) we beat Army who beat somebody who upset somebody else and on and on until at the end of the chain some school beat the eventual national champion. Thus by the transitive principle Holy Cross was NCAA national champion.

Is the IL a factor a here? When Navy plays Bucknell in 2024, they will have rotated through the entire PL minus Georgetown. Army plays a PL team basically every year, and occasionally plays 2. They typically play 2 FCS teams every year. Navy only has ONE open date per season (8 AAC, ND, Army, Air Force) which they have played a PL team just about every season since we went scholly. They played Marshall this year, Delaware next year, return game at Marshall in 2023 and Bucknell in 2024.

Considering our strong and historic NROTC program, you might have thought the Mids would have played us more frequently than once.

Odd....all around to drop Army for no logical reason (costing them more to not play them) besides the contract being insane from the previous administration at UT.

Considering our strong and historic NROTC program, you might have thought the Mids would have played us more frequently than once. The Mids are threatened by the more worldly, charming and liberally educated Officers that come out of HC NROTC than the four year Cloister in Annapolis produces.

Considering our strong and historic NROTC program, you might have thought the Mids would have played us more frequently than once. I thought it was odd that we'd never played them before 2019. Especially since we were both major college teams for so long and would have had a lot of common opponents in the Northeast (Army, BC, Syracuse, Temple, Rutgers, Colgate). I would guess HC and Navy just didnt have much history in any sport prior to the formation of the Patriot League in 1991 for all sports. Navy does have a long history with a number of current FCS programs, including Delaware, VMI, William & Mary and Penn. And of late they've bent over backwards to schedule PL teams in football.

Navy and Army were informal supporters for PL football scholarships.

His last day of work is tomorrow. I have not heard the name of who's in charge come Saturday morning.
