Coker’s Catch the loudest Fitton Field has been since? All 4,000 of us 😂 sitting on visitor's side the roar loudest of the game followed closely by the roar when the TD was confirmed by the ref a minute or 2 later

Great pic 1970! Not to belabor the point, but the actual crowd (butts in seats) had to be at least 6k. I’m not sure why they announced such a ridiculous number, but I think it must have to do with NCAA regulations. Sad…who enjoys reporting a lower number of attendees?!? Not me! Since the NCAA takes the gate, what good does it for them to report a lower number?

Thanks for the photo of the home stands, 70. The TV shots did not get that view. Impressive showing.

Going up 14-0 v. the Beagles in ‘86? Haha it’s got to be. I missed that one. Born in 1999. Maybe a St Peters vs St John’s thanksgiving game? Some footage of that 1986 game on YouTube an interview with Gordie Lockbaum on Charter TV3 Starts at 6:20 Thanks CIB terrific memories of Gordie and those years.

Good call. That was a total madhouse. Fitton was never louder (from 1970 on anyway) than it was at 14-0 during the BC game in '86 and I was in the press box....Fitton was literally shaking.... 1981 BC game was in front of a pretty large crowd and a real good game from start to finish. Flutie's freshman year; he took over the starting job the last 4-5 games. Unfortunately, there's absolutely no film of it I've ever seen. We ended up 5 yards short of a victory.

One of the very few games I had to sit in the East endzone....you're right, that game had to have some very loud moments
