So, the coach is empowered to divulge to the public the private health records of the player? If it were my kid, I would not allow it. Ain't nobody's business. It's merely sports.

I'm sure if the player said, "Do NOT talk about my PCL, coach," or a parent said, "You are not allowed to speak about my son's injuries in any context," the coach would/should oblige.

This is what I mean, one of the following statements, NEITHER OF WHICH WOULD CONSTITUTE A VIOLATION OF ANYONE'S PRIVACY RIGHTS.
1. Our players/staff have been cleared to resume activities, we'll start practicing today/tomorrow 2. We still do not meet the requirements for the resumption of play.
The next game is Saturday, damn it. Are they going to play or not? Or should we just assume they are?
Maybe #2 would be a violation had they not said the reason for the suspension of play in the first place? But once they did, that's out the window.

I'm no expert but my understanding of HIPAA but believe nothing can be divulged without express permission about anyone's health. That said, how many players or their parents won't allow at least minimal information to be divulged?
And, as others have posted, the lack of information is not confined to players' health so does make one wonder if HIPAA is the issue.
Hey, I thought it was "progress" when they admitted that the games were postponed because of Holy Cross protocols rather than the opponents' but their hand was probably forced when multiple games were postponed and the opponents could play other teams.

Parents play little role here since most of the students (if not all) are 18 or older. That means they are the sole permission needed. Parents, even if they pay the students tjuition, have no say ln most cases regarding the release of statements about the student's health.

While true, that doesn't change my prior post that said players or their parents.

If a college asked players to sign a form at the start of the season authorizing the coach to provide a weekly injury update that communicates the projected return to play date, but not go into clinical details, how many would object?

When do most coaches give injury updates?
Usually during a pre-game interview, post game press conference. Something like that.
No radio. ESPN + doesn't seem to do coach interviews. A post game press conference would be a one on one conversation with Jen Toland after a home game. Maybe this information isn't being released because no one is asking the question

Maybe this information isn't being released because no one is asking the question The announcers have occasionally referenced something like RJJ's knee injury status indicating they have had at least brief conversations with the coach prior to the game for background info. Post game interviews seem to be more of a style and technique mutual decision/tradition between the local announcers and the home head coach. ESPN doesn't have any logical incentive to rush the game off the air at it's conclusion because it's not on the air, it's streaming. An extra five or ten minutes of programming means the opportunity for more ad revenue with no extra expense if I understand the technology correctly.

So, the reason we don’t hear from Nelson is because he has no opportunity to communicate with the fans. Is that what I am supposed to believe? I’ve seen post game interviews from home coaches on ESPN+ and not sure it’s a difficult thing to do to show a pre-game interview with a coach at halftime.
And I suspect if the coach was willing, they could even do a quick halftime live interview just before the second half starts.
But maybe that’d be asking too much since I am sure Nelson wants/needs to use every second of halftime to speak to his players.

I saw Fran O'Hanlon give a post game interview, last week I believe. Not sure how they expect our nearly extinct group to stay interested if we can't get basic information on a semi regular basis.
Glad there's no game to go to tonight. Got the Moderna booster last night, and right now I feel like a sore armed popsicle with a popsicle headache, if there is such a thing.

Good for you, Dave! Good point about interviews and popsicle headache small price to pay. I had no headache and arm slightly sore for a couple of hours - really nothing - but I've heard older folks often have less of a reaction.

Glad you are now eligible to go inside Hart. This will be very helpful Saturday if any Bucknell players have a question about whom a foul is on

Oh boy, speaking of that - we are liable to hear every single Birdsong "Bingo!!!" yell like we're right next to him.
