More about Colgate than the Crusaders tonight.
A team led by Seniors & Juniors who have lost a total of 3 home pL games over the past 4 years, who has been steamrolling teams the six weeks, and who couldn't miss from 3 tonight.
Average pL teams (our expected ceiling this year) do not win road games against best team in the pL. That's the way it's always been in this league.
Onward and upward! Go Cross Go!!!

Feel badly for players, parents, students who care, fans and coaches
A few bright spots but an ugly year that must not be blamed on Covid but real world actions

You can coach all you want, Colgate is just a better team.... Maybe 5-10 points better 30 I don’t think so Wow!! Colgate, a team who has dominated the pL for the last 4 years and is led by Seniors and Juniors, only 5-10 points better than HC at home. That must mean you are extremely impressed with Nelson's recruiting if his group of Freshmen & Sophomores are that good! Promising for the future!

Totally agree, NAD!. Was going post how I'd complain to Ralph about the lousy black uniforms. Women have played well wearing black this year. Their uniforms are identical to the men’s. Expect the black uniforms to be in the rotation for two more years until Adidas has the next iteration. Expect new white uniforms for next year. Hope they are not like the Univ of Washington Huskies. You will really be upset with the uniforms they are wearing this year. 😂 This will possibly be the next HC uniform design. One of the current templates from Adidas. Remember the Uniforms are provide gratis as part of the contract.

Interesting comments by Langel after the game about the scheduling -since Colgate is experiencing the same thing HC is.
He said since they are an experienced team they probably can handle this stretch. No reference to HC not being experienced, but it is an obvious conclusion.
He also calls this time the "players time" and not the "coaches time" since there will be little time between games for the coaches to impact things.

I believe there is talent across the league that is very close to the same and coaches make the difference or in our case take us in a different direction I have little doubt he is a terrific man and a good assistant coach but 6-16 and 4-6 in his almost third year doesn’t give me a good feeling about the future

To have a chance tonight HC needed to have a big advantage with 2's and free throws...and that obviously didn't happened.
When Colgate has struggled this year Records was usually quiet. When he plays well they are tough to beat.
Looking forward to seeing the response on Wednesday.

1. GG is having to play too many minutes banging against the other team's biggest guys. We need more play from our centers. Play Louth, tell him to rebound and defend, clog up the middle. Isn't this a good year to let him play through his mistakes? 2. Colgate's experience really showed. 3. I don't feel I have a handle on what kind of a player JM is. A role player I think. 4. Don't like the uniforms.

Did HC ever look to recruit Records considering he came from right down the road in Rhode Island? IMO he is the difference in the game - when HC tries to double team him he just kicks it out for a open 3 Almost no one recruited Records. His only D1 offers came in March/April of his senior year - from Colgate and Binghamton. Was ranked #75 in New England by NERR, and was listed at that time as 6-7. Colgate's roster now lists him at 6-10.

I HATE the black uniforms, It is not a Holy Cross color What color would you suggest as the third set in the uniform rotation? The last alternative color was gray, during the Carmody years. The only official color for Holy Cross is Royal Purple. White, like Black, Gray, are accent colors with White being the traditional color for home uniforms. 50 years ago, several HC teams wore uniforms that were blue than purple due to issues with the supplier having color pallet. At the time the uniforms were from either Champion, or another company. Oh well, talking about tonight’s game is frustrating.

Maybe 5-10 points better 30 I don’t think so There’s no way a team of all Frosh and Covid year Soph plus Gates is 5-10 points worse than this experienced Colgate team at home. Not even close. Home court advantage is worth 3 points alone, so you therefore think on a neutral court this team could be 2 points worse???!!! Experience is the single most important factor in successful basketball teams, especially at the at the low mid major level. You’re ignoring that if you think HC should be 5-10 points worse.

Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance Thank you or maybe there is no real preparation just roll out the ball and try That statement, my good sir, is nonsense, IMHO.

Don’t worry- even with missing time during your sabbatical, you still maintain a dominant lead in the competition for sarcastic and condescending posts.

While it wouldn't have changed the outcome, have to think that Malcolm's quick exit with his injury hurt the defensive cause at least.
Was tough seeing Records making layup after layup while 6-9 250 is sitting on the bench. Maybe he doesn't practice well, maybe there are stamina issues.....but 5 boards in 17 minutes, 2 assists with 0 turnovers.
Does seem like many are giving more weight to this game than the previous 3. I'm not ready to go there; want to see how the rest of the week goes.

Any team is allowed to put up a "stinker" once in a while, especially with the tight turnaround, on an away court, against the top team in the league.
It's the ability to bounce back from it that defines the leadership and coaching abilities of a head coach.
The trend was good coming into last night.
Totally willing to write it off.
Let's see what happens Weds. We're 5 point underdogs per Sagarin. It's a winnable game. So are the next two games.
Need to go, worst case, 2-1.
An 0-3 is unacceptable.
Go Cross!
