Does UMASS-Boston have anyone in the portal? A kid from Regis was seen at the Wendy's in College Square. High School or College?

I can’t wait to open up this thread, and read about a potential transfer to HC from the portal.
That would be cool.

Somewhat surprised we have not recvd and info from our Worcester locals who are pretty good at sleuthing around the program - we had all sorts on ‘campus visit’ info when the kid from Iona visited but since then ‘crickets’ - get back to work, guys

Ever think interest in coming to one of the worst programs in the country isn't that high?

Great school with a terrific campus and a storied history. I would give it a serious look, yes. ACTP seems to dislike HC as much as mask wearers.

Despite the outstanding education & MBB heritage HC provides, 19 yr old kids considering a new school see a horrendous team in a invisible league.

Hopefully Nelson and his staff scouted the later rounds of the Holy Cross intramural playoffs. Perhaps it's nigh time to put the top couple of players on scholarship.
Did they even have indoor intramural sports this year, given the college's COVID environment? I suppose, weather permitting, you could play on the blacktop by the tennis courts on Linden Lane.

Maybe like Mass. high school (until the playoffs, when the edict was lifted) they played w/masks on?

There is a reason HC is looking at D2 and D3 student-athletes as potential transfers.

And it is much the same the same reason that many other D1 colleges are looking at those athletes. Moving to a D1 program is, by itself, quite an incentive for a D2 or D3 athlete. The results of the last few seasons are another reason for HC to look to use that D1 advantage.,

HC men’s hoop isn’t much higher on the college basketball food chain than D2 schools and perhaps even the top schools in D3 like the one Peter Lash is at. Whether it is because of past decisions, bad coaching, bad luck or a combination of factors, is open to debate.

Good to hear you agree that HC is higher than D2 on that basketball food chain. Some might not concede that.

Average HC ranking under Milan Brown, per Pomeroy, was 218.
I'd sign up for that, given where we currently are under Nelson, in a heartbeat.

With the transfer portal and the Patriot League we will never be in the 125-150 range.

Blaming the PL imho is like a grade schooler who has just flunked first grade saying "grammar school sucks, I want to go to junior high next year".
