Let's have:
1. Age limit of 75 for SCOTUS justices
2. Term limits and age limits for Congress
These would apply to both parties so it's fair. We live in a gerontocracy and it needs to change.

Probably have to grandfather (and grandmother) a bunch of people that are there now, but, yeah.
Taking party affiliation out of the mix, it's scary that the immediate successors after VP Harris are Nancy Pelosi and a crippled Patrick Leahy.

Was speaking with some friends recently when Thomas' name came up and one of them told the following so figured I would post it here... "I was coaching youth basketball with Clarence Thomas about 20 years ago. My son and his nephew were on the same team. The court was linoleum thus very slippery when dusty. Every game Justice Thomas arrived early, went to the janitor closet to secure a broom and proceeded to sweep the floor so that the boys would have a clean and safe floor to play on."

Probably had to do the same thing in the fieldhouse haha... like skating when you tried to play basketball.

He just quit his part time teaching gig at GWU Law School he's had since 2011. Regardless of the reason why, he's in his mid seventies and deserves a break. If Ginni testifies for the J6 Committee it will be must see TV in September.
I believe he does something with HC Semester in Washington students, informally or formally. I hope those students treat Justice Thomas with respect.

At what point in your post was party affiliation taken out of the mix?

I think that the comment was about the fact that the 2nd and 3rd people in line of succession to the Presidency are in their 80's which, even in 21st century terms, is kind of old to be handling that type of a job. Old is old whether you agree or disagree with a person's viewpoint on various issues.
On a positive note - outside of Hollywood, I don't think we've ever come close to the Speaker ever assuming the duties of the President - never mind the President Pro Temp of the Senate. Even when Bush was out of town when Reagan was shot, I don't think anyone handed Tip O'Neil the nuclear codes

Gen. Haig directed that any orders from Nixon related to national security go through him. This was in Nixon's final days, and the President was depressed and drinking heavily. www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/07/29/the-last-time-a-general-propped-up-a-president-215438/============== Justice Thomas voluntarily gave up his part-time teaching gig at GWU law school. The course he had co-taught for a decade was Constitutional Law. The University made clear he was not asked to leave, and it had expected he would be co-teaching the course this academic year. ==================== The Constitution sets the qualification for a member of Congress. Minimum age is a qualification, there is no maximum age. Methinks one would need to amend the Constitution to introduce an age limit.

Indeed he did. Thinking something doesn't necessarily make it so, although he was likely calling the shots. Whether or not it was with legitimate authority is a different question

To my dismay, the U.S. Congressman who represents my district, Jamaal Bowman of New York, recently posted pics of himself in Washington holding up an "Impeach Clarence Thomas" sign. Safe to say I'm more than a little bit embarrassed for him and for my fellow constituents.

Thomas hasn't written anything out of bounds in his opinions it seems to me. He is merely saying there is no Constitutional Federal guaranteed rights of certain things from what I can figure.
Congress can legislate those rights I believe, but it is so broken little can pass so people blame the Court.

Was that where RGS taught? Did he have him as a student?

Yes, I did teach at Mercy, but did not have him as a student (as far as I can remember).

My son was in the Washington, DC program and he took a very generous amount of time with the students, posed for pictures and couldn’t have been more of a gentleman.

I believe the Chargers also appeared in the DII title game in 1996 or 1997. Bowman was on those teams. He is very well respected in education circles around here.

Not jumping through hoops at the thought, but Chargers vs Crusaders could happen in the future. Some think we could do better than playing the Ivies, but we could do worse, too.

There's certainly a connection there. Despite a short league schedule allowing for extra non-conference games, PL v. D2 games are pretty rare. Fordham only school that's played even a handful of those games in the last 20 years. And Georgetown played DIII Catholic a few years back.

In 1997, New Haven did make the D2 Championship Game losing 51-0 to Northern Colorado. That year New Haven did play and absolutely steamrolled Lafayette 38-0. They also beat Monmouth 42-3 (not sure if MU was DI yet) and lost to then I-AA power Western Kentucky 24-21. Based on their schedules, it appears New Haven was an indy back then.

I can't tell if UNH (not Foley's) has continued to pursue Division 1 or not (last definitive article that pops up is from March of 2021).
If not, I don't see them playing D1 opponents in football. The NE10 is D2, but is need based, not scholarship. Different from the New Haven football program that knocked off Villanova in 2001 or whenever it was. They actually dropped football for a while.

I thought Assumption FB had a smaller than FCS amount of scholarship money to divvy up. They are in the NE10.

I was under the impression UNH (not Foley's UNH) which reminds me of when Jack Foley, Clark University Vice President and Worcester School Committee member first ran for office in the 90s, the Worcester Telegram would print Jack Foley (not "the shot") when covering the election, was moving on up to D-1. Apparently that isn't definite.
