Amazing kid. Player and person. Coaches LOVED him all around. Just listening to him speak off the cuff…very mature and articulate for 17/18 yrs. FBS offers - Army, Navy, Air Force, Buffalo FCS - Every Patriot sans G’Town, Robert Morris, Richmond

HCBC and his talented staff are obviously recruiting solid athletes whom they are molding into very good college football players. It appears that they’re also recruiting high school boys of good character whom they are molding into solid young men prepared for their post-college and post-football days. I was on campus yesterday at the reception following Togo’s funeral and burial. As the reception was wrapping up, and I was preparing to head home, I drove up behind the Luth Center hoping that the FB team might be practicing. Fortuitously, the team was making its way, one by one (in 95 degree heat) to the practice field. Learning that HCBC had not yet left the building, I decided to wait to say Hello. Greeting and making (very) small talk with players who walked by, over the course of less than ten minutes or so, I literally lost count of how many times I heard the word “Sir”. It is very clear to me that HCBC and his staff are creating a generation young men with CLASS who are destined for successful lives. We’ll done all. THIS!! And I’ll add all genuinely appreciate every bit of support…financial, emotional, alumni network you name it. One said to me “we really tune a lot out. The only thing we really care about are the guys that wore the purple before us and the HC fans/alumni that we want to make proud.”

Amazing things are happening at Holy Cross. The excitement is off the charts. This is a win-win. HC provides an elite level education on a beautiful campus with first-rate facilities. The camaraderie and support among HC students is legendary. It is a great place for great student-athletes. The newest commits will bring a lot to vie for a national championship. Great players are teaming with other great players. HC is a perfect landing place for a great student-athletes. Winners win! No doubt these guys are going to love Holy Cross,

Our triple play of football: coach Cheney and his staff / John Luth’s generosity / 90-wide program - we are capitalizing on all three

Dharry and 44 have yet to weigh in
The future appears to be building for a 1AA FCS championship quality program and a very competitive mid level FBS program

Actually I missed Cam’s announcement. As mentioned before the mission is a National championship. That begins now.

Cam Jones just made my Sunday; how outstanding talent continues to join others in the class of 2023. Winners want to join a winning program and what purplehaze wrote above is exactly how the football program is succeeding.......
Another great day to be a Crusader !! Keep the great momentum going.....

Jones is a great get. Sorely needed DB.
QB - Frattura RB - Clerveaux WR - Mullally, Warren OL - Woods, Janis, Biel, Nunnally, Beesley TE - Petitta, Dippre
DL - Robinson, Stevenson, George LB - Dansdill, Spinogatti DB - Jones
17 commits. If you include baseball/punter it’s 18. I personally believe 10 more commits. My guess - 1 LB, 1 DE, 6 DBs, 1 WR, 1 RB
I think things will be quiet for a bit in recruiting. I think you’ll see 4-5 more over the next 4 months and hopefully sign 22 in the Dec signing period. Like football44 I’m exhausted from being on fire as much as I’ve been this recruiting season.

Most of us are on fire every day praying and hoping for athletic results without an internal voice or insights
Perhaps our role is more exhausting 😎😇😱

I just watched Cam Jones select Holy Cross. I’ve seen a few football players in my lifetime but there’s something about this young man that screams “leader, ball player “. I think this kid is going to be special. This class is OUTSTANDING.

Same 44…I alluded to this above. Reminded me a bit of Grant Holloman in his personality. Good looks and a million dollar smile always helps too.

Perhaps covering the same ground as a couple of prior posts, here’s part of what I sent out to my 1970 Classmates in my Class email recently:
“I’ve had a saying for years that "winning begets winning" and there are many verbal commitments from recruits coming next season that are a bunch of blue chippers with Holy Cross beating out not just other Patriot League schools but Ivies and FBS (think D-IA) schools. The word is that these recruits are wowed by a number of factors including Coach Chesney (very charismatic if you have not met him); the top-notch Luth facilities; the 90-wide football alumni mentoring/networking program; and, of course, winning 3 league championships in a row.”

You can tell what the attitude and mindset is with the coaching staff when you see start to see 6’2” corners lined up and a 6’4” 240 lb. Linebacker playing in the middle and quick and versatile nose guards causing havoc up front. We are recruiting to play the likes of Villanova, South Dakota State and North Dakota State. Big time ball on its way to Fitton Field.

Oh yea 44’, I was just referring to the similarities in mannerisms, intonation and smile when watching Cam speak. Chesney and teammates often joked that Grant will either be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, head of a billion dollar non-profit or a Senator/POTUS. Cam’s already as big as a HS Senior as Grant was as a 5th year College Senior (5’11 185) and likely faster. Grant H was MAYBE 170 lbs when he showed up on campus at HC. Jones will likely contribute as a freshman in 23’ and be expected to start as a Soph in 24’. For those that haven’t watched his tape, he has like 7-8 returns for TD’s between both kickoffs and punts if memory serves. Almost half the highlights are him making house calls. He’s quick and very athletic. www.hudl.com/profile/14336252/Cameron-Jones

The punt returns are unreal, especially #3-- This guy can go from a dead stop to 4.5 speed in a few strides-or at least that's what it seems like.
