I'll reset the deck here on 8/18. Posted commits (15): QB - Austen Frattura RB - Jayden Clerveaux WR - Max Warren, Charly Mullally TE - Lacota Dippre, Luke Petitta OL - Bennett Nunnally, Will Janis, Colin Beesley, Thomas Biel, Sean Woods DL - Will Robinson, Brice Stevenson LB - Drew Spinogatti, Ross Dansdill DB - we will see on Sunday about Cam Jones (fingers crossed) There are two verbal commits (per Scott James signals) that haven't posted. Hopefully one of those is Cam Jones. He'd be the 16th commit. You could count the 17th as the baseball player/punter as well. I personally think this class will be 27/28 kids large. I think they have another 10/11 players to go. The only hole I see in this ridiculous class is DB. I'd guess if they get another 10 verbal commits that 5 to 6 of them are DBs simply based on what's leaving after this year in terms of numbers. Based on all of that I could see the focus on 10 additional kids as follows: 2 DL, 6 DBs, 1 LB, 1 WR or RB Great job dharry! Thank you for the update that really puts in perspective how great a job the football staff is doing.

Great summary DHarry! As for DB’s (now the focus), here’s what many of us believe is our current board. Full (or near full) scholarships - Cam Jones (PA), George Inge (NJ) , Hiro Carr (VA), Brayden Holmes (GA), Torian Roberts (FL), Brice Woody (TX) - I would think we have enough $$ for 3 players in this cohort.. Mid partials - Donovan Comestro (CA), Will Rubalcalva (TX)
Another 3 to 4 players in the low partial or PWO category but I believe we have earmarked the vast majority of DB $$ to the above players (as of today).

Spinogatti looks like a tackling machine....a great addition to this outstanding class for 2023. Solid football players who want to play and compete for the national championship are being assembled by the Chesney coaching machine. Keep the good news coming.....

"coaching (and recruiting) machine" sums it up pretty well.

That makes sense since we dwelled in the FCS top 5 that year (1991 season) on a senior-dominated team. And haven’t been back to that level since. Chesney's recruits may be heading to a top-10 finish and this class might take us even higher. We'll see. IMHO Carter’s recruiting was even stronger than the '88 recruiting group group but that’s going back further (recruits were pre-PL).

1963 ( class of 1967) Lentz, Kimener, Haley, Gorter, Kelly, etc. Saw 2 wins over BC, though one was when they were ineligible freshmen. Senior year- 6-3-1 In 1966 as seniors, besides the upset over BC, stopped Dartmouth’s longest win streak in the country.

That was an excellent group, to be sure. But, I can't look away from the talent on this team today and it appears to possibly be getting better.

Commit #18 coming
It's not Kaden Beatty. He chose Kent State.

Commit #18 coming It's not Kaden Beatty. He chose Kent State. Harry, try to reset me on CIW's (Commitments In Waiting). I had thought last week there were three and the thought was it didn't count the bball punter. The speculation was an LB and perhaps 2 DB's. Spinogatti announces so that leaves two CIW's (maybe DB's). 05 thinks that there's only one active max DL being pursued so Beatty couldn't have been coming. Tonight we add a new third CIW who might or might not be a max guy. So I'm thinking there are 3 CIW's, hopefully Cameron, maybe a second DB, plus today's CIW that could be any position, max or partial. Is this your current speculation or do you now think the baseball punter was one of the earlier CIW's and I lost count? Thanks, you and Breezy, 05, 44, et al have been amazingly insightful and accurate. Also thanks for the reminder 05 on Torian Roberts and Woody, both top level potential DBs. Don't know Haydon but Comestro is no slouch, he'd be tough to get without a significant schollie IMHO.

Hcnj - you nailed it above. Had 3 CIW. Spinogatti ended up being 1. So down to 2. Tonight’s signal indicates it’s back up to 3 CIWs. The punter was not one of them.
I’m hoping Jones is one of those on Sunday. Would be a great get and badly needed DB. So that would leave two. I’m personally hopefully 1 is another DB. And I’m hoping maybe this one is a DT. But we shall see.
05 gives a great synopsis of who the DB targets are. That will certainly be the main focus from here on out.

Also Stu Smith is heating up as a DB they offered from IN. Today got an offer from Furman. Eli Thompson from GA they are actively recruiting as well.

I was avoiding being so direct before Beatty committed, but Jovan George is the last DL were are actively recruiting for a full ride. From day one Stephenson and George were the top two DT’s on our board. If we land George, it would enable us to have the depth to run more 4 man fronts with two DT’s should we want. George is an every down NG O/1 technique IMO (similar to Modak) whereas Bryce and Boobie can play Nose or 3 tech DT.

Jovan George announced a final five of Western Michigan, Akron, Buffalo, HC and Fordham on July 9. Would think he’d be deciding soon.

As for our partial DB’s (of the one’s I’ve researched/watched), I would think we see them as follows:
FS (could play other S positions) - Donovan Comestro (CA) and Dax Horany (TX) - similar players with similar frames. Slight to edge to Comestro all around. Horany just picked up a full ride to Sam Houston State which you would think has to be at the top of his list without knowing financial incentives.
WS/Nickel - Stu Smith (IN) and Will Rubacalva (TX) - again similar type players, slightly undersized and less developed physically but run and tackle well. As Harry has stated HC was on them early and now other quality programs have taken notice. Furman, Colgate, Fordham, Columbia and Brown for Smith and Columbia, Fordham and UNH for Rubs (Dartmouth now also pursuing him but no offer yet) Slight edge to Smith in my assessment but both good players.
I haven't scouted Eli Thompson from GA yet. I believe HC is still his only D1 offer.

Sorry, I meant I wasn't familiar with Holmes, not Hayden. NJ, watch Holmes on tape. He’s a 3 star on 247. Excellent run support DB and plays with a ton of emotion. Good feet/athleticism. Would like to see more film of him in single coverage but looks like a future free safety or nickel/WS to me. He plays CB at Milton and Not that he can’t play D1 corner but his tape is mostly footage of him shedding blocks and making tackles.
