Check out the video replay. It its pretty good quality and showed me things I did not see in the original broadcast. Just FYI...the video quality from my provider was excellent, not a single issue. As mentioned before I was streaming this game with Roku Me, too, all the way across the country. No video problems at all.

One thing I was worried about going into the game was whether Sluka would try too hard this year to be a pocket passer. You see that happen sometimes with guys in the NFL who try to prove they can be a pocket passer after making their name with their legs. Was very pleased with the balance between running and passing overall and from Sluka.

Announcers didn't seem to be aware of rule change this year which makes it a penalty for a ball carrier to fake a feet-first slide But they had a ten year history with Coach Chesney, were insightful about the rarity of D-2 coaches getting a shot in D-1 and praised the Holy Cross Administration (FADNP) for hiring Chesney ("even though he was in their back yard"). It was interesting to learn that the Special Teams dominance we saw against BC started at Salve Regina. If there really is a significant stigma against D-2 head coaches when they try to move up, that is something HC could take advantage of in other sports. With 27 sports and 3,000+ students we don't have too many ways to gain an edge, as the all sports w/l record indicates.

Chesney had a remarkable record of turning programs around quickly and winning a ton almost right away. If we can find people with that resume for every other sport, sign me up.

question to bbc... will you apply the same framework of criticism to the men's basketball team when ("if" sadly the better choice of term) it has wins by a comfortable margin? i appreciate contrarian views, but being hypercritical of chesney while hyperdefensive for the much poorer performing nelson (that's an understatement) is very strange. just as your hypercritical views of austin butler and hyperdefensive position of a few previous much poorer performing players (who are not even worth mentioning) was strange. Probably a crazy thought, but maybe I’m one of the few remaining objective HC fans around here and the “hyper” people are really just hypercritical of HCBN and hypersensitive about any idea that may hint at HOfHCBC, HOFAB, etc. not being totally infallible. I can remember the days where the great RW (not to cross sports again, but who inherited less and accomplished more in his first 4 years that HCBC, IMHO) was fair game to draw criticism around here (e.g. not a good offensive coach, couldn’t get over the hump of winning an NCAA game, etc.). But I guess these are just different times in Crusaderland. I know, I know, crazy thoughts… Go Cross Go! Beat Buffalo!

With the score 21-10, we got called for 3 personal fouls in a 7 play span. That has to be some sort of record.
I love Chesney but this happens too often with his team and is something we’ll continue to struggle with unless we decide to change it. Other teams watch film on us looking for weakness. The most obvious one they’ll see is that, if they get under our skin, we’ll take stupid penalties.

Any official numbers yet for game attendance? The HC website has attendance as "0" ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the PA guy said that the attendance was 8,000+. The Merrimack website shows the stadium having a capacity of 3,500. There were certainly a lot of standees, but there were empty areas in the stands.

It was pretty packed there, at least in Section 3.

Hope 8147 is not an imaginary number and most of our home games meet or exceed that.

Hope 8147 is not an imaginary number and most of our home games meet or exceed that. 50 percent of the home games last year did NOT get that number.

Watching UMass at Tulane...TheTulane D-back makes a tackle in the UMass bench. Jumps up and does a shimmy shimmy with a head shake facing the UMass players....NO FLAG FOR TAUNTING... I guess the rule guys didn't make it to N'Oleans...

Spencer Gilliam had been my avatar for several years ( I think he replaced Pat Benzan who graduated) because I liked the way he played-blocking kicks, scooping up fumbles as well as catching passes. Did he key the safety today?

Good point. Let’s wait until it costs us a game and then worry about it. Hopefully that day doesn’t come in the playoffs.

Or in Buffalo. Keep the edge, reduce the penalties.
