Chris Doherty must have gone down with an injury as well; started and played 3 minutes.
Always liked that kid.

Army came back from 7 down in the final minute of regulation and won it in OT 96-94 on the road f AWP shot 62 pct from the field - based on this Siena comparison they look to be better than HC ...and Stonehill beat Army. Our three games in the Bronx are going to be a big challenge for our group.

Saw him sitting on the end of the bench next to Joe P (who looked like he was in uniform but didn't play when I watched). Ledlum is a beast - him and GG should be quite the matchup. Just another 2 teams that are going to be tough to beat.

Should I know who Chris Doherty is ? We recruited Ludlum. He was also recruited in football, by some power schools. He was raw as a HS player, but clearly had a strong upside

Doherty is a local kid (my hometown) who started at ND and transferred to Northeastern (think it's his second). 6-8 kid.

I was flipping channels and when I came back to the game he must’ve just gotten hurt before then. He was walking around looking kind of dazed, sat at the end of the bench for a little bit and then went back to the locker room. He must’ve come back out with the team again when you saw him at the end of the game. Initially I didn’t hear the announcers saying what the injury was, but then they started talking about a previous game when Doherty got hurt and I think they said that Northeastern have a big comeback while he was out.

He got a lot of credit in my book for sticking with his local HS instead of finishing his last year or two at a prep school. From what I recall, he left ND more for personal reasons than for not being able to perform at that level and/or lack of playing time; which are the usual reasons these days.

He didn't have the greatest upbringing from what I understand; even had some issues on the court if I recall. But I've heard he's not a bad kid at all. Real old school game.

I'm still enjoying Colgate taking it to Syracuse.
I've only been to a few games where power schools get knocked off by a low major, but it seems to me the fan reaction at the games consists of 4 basic phases:
1. They make all kinds of noise early on, as if to say "you little schmucks are about to get a lethal dose of what REAL basketball is!".
2. As the game goes on and the little guy shows no signs of being awed or impressed, the crowd stays fairly loud, but you can almost feel some real tension in their voices.
3. As the end comes, and they are about to lose, the arena gets real quiet.
4. The "fans" then start angrily turning on their players and coaches.
Two instances where I witnessed this personally were HC-ND in 2005, and the Vermont-Syracuse game that year. The ND faithful were letting us have it pretty bad about how HC wouldn't hack it in the Big East, so much that John Hurley's dad turned around in the final minute and practically laughed in their faces. The same fans also took to calling ND star Chris Thomas as Chrissy. Lots of maple syrup jokes from the Syracuse fans at that DCU game. If you dig up the Sorrentine "3 pointer from the parking lot!" video on youtube, in the final seconds you see a priceless shot of the stands where one Syracuse guy was amongst the jubilant Vermont fans, looking like he just ate a crap sandwich. Back when HC beat UMass at the DCU in the early years I also recall Brian Wilson being called "Beach Boy" for most of the game. They ended up directing their venom at Monty Mack later, I believe.
The most pathetic thing is: I'm not talking about students. These were all guys middle aged and up.

Similar to the Purdue fans at the St. Peter’s NCAA game in March. But the UNC and their opponent in game 2 quickly became Peacock fans

I remember reading that play had not been part of the Catamounts' regular season repertoire.

Taylor Coppenwrath? That game was awesome baby with a capital A. I'm thinking of the quick wing who blindsided Syracuse to sneak in for the alley-oop and score. Coppenwrath was immense and then Michigan State finally had a front court who could defend him in the next game.

TJ Sorrentino

He was the point guard who threw the pass. It was an African American kid who was unsung compared to Coppenwrath and Sorrentino but rose to the occasion in the tournament.

Final Georgia 65 Bucknell 61 Refs missed a brutal and blatant foul on UGA in the paint with 11.something left in the game. I think it would have pulled Bucknell to 2. Didn't bring enough money with them for the SEC refs.
