No. The difference is BIG! Both are hockey schools with subpar gyms and zero NCAA WBB appearances in the last 13 years. So please tell me how they are different??? UVM is an infinitely better school academically. And as you are no doubt aware, that is more important than the criteria that you are applying.

That would have been GG Smith, right? Former Loyola coach, and son of Tubby....

High Point fired their head men’s bb coach after one year, he was asst there for 4 years prior to being named head man, after the team went 13-17 this year. That is an unusual situation. Tubby Smith was coach there for about four years. Got a second case of covid during the season last year and stepped down with at least a few weeks left in the season, with his son GG replacing him for the rest of they year and for 2022-23. But I don't think he had a contract that ran beyond that. It was said at the time that they would decide if he would continue in the job based on the team's performance in 2022-23.

Tubby was 16-15 his first year, then 9-23, 9-15 (Covid), 14-18 thereafter.
I hope there was some kind of agreement where GG had a year to prove himself.

I like to see the institution holding the cards in these employment agreements with young and middling coaches who aren't bringing a string of post season appearances and twenty win seasons to the table during negotiations.
When every head coach gets a five year contract regardless of credentials, the industry has gotten top heavy and the tuitions that finance everything are groaning under the weight of it.
Finances are more opaque at HC than at State U's covered by the Freedom of Information Act. But from what can be pieced together it appears that HC Basketball has not been financed by well heeled alumni and boosters, but rather by the students who generally don't even attend the games they (are forced to via tuition) pay for.

Here's a name to throw in the mix. Jeff Brown at Middlebury. Has turned a program that once was a doormat into a one that can compete for championships every year. Not to mention recruiting in a high academic environment. he is a man of integrity and would be a fine representative of the college. The only negative is he's not a young coach anymore. I beleive early sixties is my estimate but could probably turn things around quickly.

Man, that Army job is one of the hardest in D1, and Allen has done roughly as well as anyone has there since Knight/Krzyewski. But he still gets fired, while Mr. 27-84 lives on at HC. What a world we live in.

There could be better candidates out there for the HC job (i.e. Andy Sachs) but Allen would be a HUGE step up from Nelson.:

Wow. That's really surprising.
What a world we're living in where 56-66 (.459) at Army isn't good enough, but 21-49 (.300) at Holy Cross is.
Army must have a home run lined up.

Jimmy Allen was 98-112 over a 7 year period. He was appointed Head Coach on March 30, 2016.

This is a bizarre move by army. Perhaps Allen butted heads with the A.D. or some other top official. And to make it worse, they look like they are lined up to have a good season next year, losing only one of their top five players.
