$$$$ Games to fill the coffers. This is how it's suppose to work. Same as the BC football game. By the way, heard a rumor that one will be on ESPN and the ACC Network. Don't let the boys beat BC on national TV in September!!

Then there is home scheduling. I wouldn't mind seeing if the coach could at least in time convince some A-10/MAC schools to make the trek to Worcester again. Maybe look into a tournament at the DCU.

Definitely will be played at Carnesecca. St. John's only played four games at MSG last season. A November or December game against Holy Cross isn't getting played at MSG. Pitino did say he was going to have more games scheduled at the Garden, but I doubt that includes non-league games against PL opponents. Unless, of course, part of a tournament, then we could very well be in the Garden. Pitino very clearly stated that he wanted more BE games at the world's most famous arena.

We had a great thing going for a stretch there, so much so FHCSK infamously bemoaned "I feel like we are playing in the Atlantic 10." Home (+ DCU) OOCs from 2007-08 to 2011-12: 07-08: Dayton, Ohio, 08-09: St. Joes, Western Michigan, San Francisco 09-10: Loyola Chicago, UMass, GW 10-11: Charleston, St. Joe's 11-12: BC, San Francisco

Those are some relative heavy hitters for home games...in the last number of years our best OOC home games seem to be MAAC opponents

St. Vincent, UNH, Siena 22-23: Siena, Dean, Colby Tom Sawyer, Harvard, CCSU, Quinnipiac FHCBN's first year (19-20) OOC wasn't too bad, but I'll give credit to Carmody for that -- Fairfield, Northeastern, Harvard, UMass Boston, SHU

We even won some of them!!

How many outright MAAC championships did HC win back in the glory days. Shared one w/Lasalle but that's it?

I'm sure budget gets considered (both by us and our opponents) in scheduling out of conference games...but maybe URI or UVM could be thrown into the mix. A paycheck game with UConn could be nice too, obviously unlikely to get them to campus, but maybe a 1 off at DCU

Bring back the old Colonial Classic and have HC host it at the DCU Center. Four teams, (HC, BC, PC and UMass), that sadly, never play each other.

Those were the New England teams of stature. I'd say UConn was an afterthought, except they weren't even a thought on anyone's radar screen. Mind boggling what they've accomplished since.

I don't think that BC or Providence would be interested in bringing back the Colonial Classic. Three possibilities that I would consider would be Harvard, Umass and Northeastern.

Sadly, both Toby & "Wondrous Wes" have passed away. They were fine players. UConn had a tradition of good regional teams in those days. Certainly, they were not on the level of the big boys but their teams played well. HC had some good contests with them. And, today we know the rest of the story of UConn b-ball which never could have been imagined.

I have a memory of a HC ay UConn hoops game in the mid 70's..The game was is a field house, portable bleachers I think..Where was that? On the UConn campus, but before Gampel was built.

Okay, a UConn history question: what UConn basketball star went on to become rookie-of-the-year for the Red Sox?

Okay, a UConn history question: what UConn basketball star went on to become rookie-of-the-year for the Red Sox? Well it wasn't the guy who a few months apart in 1959 struck out Ted Williams and scored a hook shot over Wilt Chamberlain as Gene Conley went to Washington State University and I don't recall him being ROY. Walt Dropo was from the little village of Moosup, Ct. a stone's throw from UConn but don't specifically remember him being a ROY.

Walt Dropo is correct. I believe he may have had military service because he didn’t make it to the majors until his late 20’s but he started with one of the greatest rookie seasons in MLB history with 34 HR, league leading 144 RBI, and a .322 batting average. He played for another decade but never approached that level of production again. He scored 20 PPG for UConn
