The 17 assists on 24 fg puts us back on track after a few low assist games. Up to .670 assist per fg, 9th in the country, but the 6 directly above us are well within reach. I would imagine that Mr. Naismith and legendary coaches (Wooden et al) envisioned that a high assist per fg ratio is how the game is meant to be played.

Do not know about Dr.James, but Wooden certainly would approve Thanks to Sports-Reference, we have access to the numbers from some late-Wooden teams. In 1973-74, 673 assists on 1,051 baskets. Reminds us what a great, all-around player Bill Walton was - led the team in assists, as well as scoring and rebounding. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/ucla/1974.html

If we are 9th in the country, then that must not be an important stat since we have a losing record.

ncaam's last post was a perfectly logical conclusion. Your blind hatred of him is making you post really stupid comments.

ncaam's last post was a perfectly logical conclusion. Far from perfectly logical Harvard is #2 in assists per fg with a 5-4 record. that stat is a good indication of a team's passing ability, not necessarily its winning percentage, which ncaam/HC70 knows too well. it is just another of his many digs at CBC. That is what is perfectly logical. There is no hatred, blind or otherwise.

Hoops, your problem is that you obviously never took the logic course that Sarasota taught.
BTW, Merry Christmas to all!🎄

ncaam's comment taken at face value without any consideration of a hidden agenda is true. sader1970- What's germane to this discussion is Psychology, not Logic. Some folks' obsession with a hidden agenda.

Then why hasn't 70 answered my posed question?
I'll tell you why-- his post suggests they will have a losing record but should Carmody beat 70's suggested losing record then he would be considered "successful". He can't have that.
It appears only two posters here have clear agendas on this board. Most just want success for the program, regardless of how we get there.

If having a losing record at this point speaks such volumes, where do you predict this team finishes in the PL reg season? It's interesting to look at the ten in this category. Most of them are very good teams with winning records: Team / Ken Pomeroy Rank / Record Michigan State / 53 / 8-5 Harvard / 140 / 5-4 Purdue / 11 / 11-2 Northwestern / 46 / 11-2 Canisius / 160 / 8-5 St. Mary's / 16 / 10-1 Seattle / 291 / 7-6 UMASS / 126 / 9-3 HC / 189 / 6-7 Syracuse / 45 / 7-5 The bottom ten: Chattanooga Coppin State Florida International Norfolk State Austin Peay LIU Brooklyn Howard North Carolina A&T SIU Edwardsville Texas A&M CC Is there even a point in mentioning rankings and records for the above teams? Aside from Chattanooga, all are bad basketball teams.

Crossball13...I did not answer you because I don't want to get into a back and forth over issues. I am trying to avoid the back and forth with everyone. I find many of the stat superlatives to be meaningless. If we finish #1 in the country in assists but have a losing record with a senior-laden team I'm not gonna be happy because of that #1 ranking. As Al Davis used to say, "Jes' win Baby." You don't agree? Feel free to disagree but don't expect a back and forth. (This post being a rare exception.) I don't respond to many posts because I am employing a judicious use of the ignore button and avoiding back and forths. You are not one of those I am ignoring. I would ignore one poster more but he's one of the moderators so I can't block him. I think Bill Carmody is an excellent x and o coach. I'm not happy with his recruiting. This year is a cipher class with one guy threatening to hurt our graduation rate. Disgree? Fine, post about it. AD Pine? Meh. Disagree? Fine, post about it. Merry Christmas to All and to All a good night!
