Just heard the mens and womens rowing seasons are cancelled for bad behavior? Has anyone heard anything about this?

I HATE the way harmless private conversations are tossed into public spotlight for the manufactured outrage mob these days, but honestly would not mind if this was an excuse to get rid of Crew at HC.
In reality, it's more of a club sport than a varsity sport at HC and could potentially free up significant budget that can be used more effectively elsewhere.

Isn't one of the shells named after Fr. K? Shouldn't get rid of crew just on that basis.

one of the boys passed a note to tell one of the girls that he likes her.
STOP THE INSANITY. I team has a tasteless post or someone is heard telling a tasteless joke and the PC police pounce........DISBAND THE MISOGYNISTS!!! Then the same people go to a Ludicris concert. Oh I forgot; that's art.

This is a sad start to something that can become much worse. Please stop this insanity now. If there will be some punishment for the "offenders" then get on with it and end this growing soap opera.

Several people posting thoughts along these lines in this thread. If you have facts, share them. If not, how about not passing judgment if you don't know said facts?

One of the men tried to sneak a 9th rower onto the men's 8.

What a joke. The PC culture we live in now is DISGUSTING! STOP THE MADNESS! But also wouldn't mind if we dissolved crew, although I think they raise a fair amount of money each year.

My concern is that there seems to be a tendency lately to throw everyone under the bus for the actions of a few.

One of the senior leaders on the women's team (Diggins) is the daughter of the long time Director of Rowing at HC.

A week and a half ago, Pat Diggins was on the Thursday night coaches show. This was a few days before the end of finals when most of the kids are gone. Nothing was said at that time
I'm guessing this is back burner until 2nd semester when conversations can be had face to face

PC culture is profoundly creepy and hypocritical on so many levels. HC admin hasn't gotten much worse is this regard in the last several years.

Doesn't work that way, and not up to HC. Colleges now have full time Title IX people that have to follow a long and thorough process. Usually takes months not weeks.

As far as I can tell, there is not one fact in this thread about what actually happened. Until there are facts, I think we should withhold judgment on the conduct of the kids as well as the school's handling of same.

I used to like the rowing competition on the Superstahhs..... Boy does that take me back. How about the commentator talking about "a lot of dough is on the line" as the athletes compete for $25,000!!!

Now no one in the major sports would do it because it wouldn't be worth the risk of injury!
Actually, that's a good question that I have no idea as to the answer: Did any mlb/nba/nfl/nhl athlete end up on the shelf for a significant period of time because of this show?

"HC rowing
The Holy Cross athletics department has restricted the women's and men's rowing teams from all team-related activities pending an investigation of emails sent by certain upper-class team members.
In a statement, the school said, "The College of the Holy Cross recently learned of emails sent by certain upper-class team members of the women's and men's rowing teams to other team members that appear to encourage conduct that would violate the College's Community Standards and Code of Conduct, as well as using vulgar and inappropriate language.
"On the basis of the contents of these emails, the Athletics Department has restricted both the women's and men's rowing teams from all team-related activity pending a formal investigation by Student Affairs, which will begin immediately and is expected to be complete within the next few months."
The rowing teams' first scheduled competition for 2017 is at the end of March."
