4 weeks until the next game at Fitton. Grass fields are my clear preference but there are always maintenance concerns especially in the cold unpredictable weather in the Northeast. Put any money it would cost to replace the sod with artificial turf into the coach retention fund. For four games a year any significant expense on changing the playing surface is not warranted and the natural grass field is a great "throwback" as both ways Gordie Lockbaum was often described in the national press.

And, grass is better. There is talk in the NFL about removing turf and replacing it with grass. Grass is a better playing surface and apparently there are fewer injuries. Players prefer it.

Every single meteorologist in New England should be instantly fired. All summer long they continue to be more wrong than right! We are getting dumber as a society with these new TV kids.

With a 6-yard TD catch, Holy Cross senior Jalen Coker just tied Sean Gruber for most TD receptions in HC history with 22. Crusaders lead, 33-7, early in third quarter.@hcrossfb @jalencoker @tgsports

I stopped believing weather forecasters after Don Kent retired. I don't believe anything the media tells us The recent comments to tell us the truth was what we used to do, we now need to protect democracy- well enough said we just live in insane times, especially about the weather- is it going to rain or not

One complaint, it shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get in to Fitton Field from McKeon Rd. Open more gates or add more staff.

Would love to see the tide turn back in the natural turf direction. Sad IMO that Notre Dame, Yale and Gillette all caved to the fake pellet stuff recently. I remember as a kid more than a third of MLB ballparks had artificial turf with sliding pits. Now the only turf field remaining is Tropicana I believe.

I thought it might have been part of the game plan to pull Shorter back in as a major piece of the wr team. I hope a couple of the young guys emerge from the young DL group. Stevenson and George inside, Robinson and Ross or Reynolds on the ends. Three freshmen starters on D with Comestro joining Smith and Stevenson. Comestro looks to have the physical skills at FS, experience is all he needs. With Haskins looking hurt Eli, who had played some in first 3 games, may emerge as a regular. Dobbs is like the Grim Reaper when he is tracking a ball carrier. He gets a claw on a guy and you're pretty sure he's done for. And Sluka refs the game while he's running the offense.

I like how we are nervous at the start of these games! Then we just put up touchdown after touchdown. 6 vs Merrimack 4 vs BC 7 vs Yale 7 vs Colgate. I don’t even want to think of fandom without Chesney. I have been so spoiled but it’s been an awesome ride! Complete domination! Attachments:

Who will be the first to warn us about Harvard being a “trap game”?

Just watching the replay of the game now.
Brian Vadnerik made the play of the game (imo).
Tie game, beginning of 2Q. Colgate has 4th and 1 at midfield and decides to go for it.
BV pushed his man backwards into the Colgate QB who lost his footing and was then gobbled up by HC defenders.
This play completely changed the momentum of the game. HC scored and the rest is history.

I wonder if the artist is former T&G cartoonist Phil Bissell? Phil drew the Patriots "Pat Patriot" logo in 1960, the ream's first year and many other great works. He was born in 1926 and a Google search shows his art is still actively being sold online with no mention of his death.

Sam Herder post as he left Ireland
Holy Cross needs to keep rolling FCS opponents like it has been for seeding purposes. Strength of schedule metrics won’t rank too well compared to many other seedable teams, although 2 FBS opponents will boost SOS. HC nearly beat Boston College, and plays Army in November. #FCS

Listed attendance- 12,578 On the telecast it looked more like 3-4000. Question Why would students who travelled 45-60 minutes, then stood in the hard rain for over 2 hours, then stayed to complete the almost 6 hour day, not walk down to Fitton Field with no rain for 3 hours to support their classmates ?

There were a fair amount of students. I would say typical of the past year. Lot of student athletes. Both hockey teams were there as well as some of the xc/tf teams. I agree with you although there were more there than the broadcast suggested. Students still better than the UConn and UMass sections!

The game vs bc qualified as an “event” while the Colgate game was just another game. Many people today, in my opinion, are very motivated by events.

Because it's Colgate versus BC. Studying, other sports, nursing a hangover, etc is probably all more exciting than a matchup against a bad Colgate team in the rain. I say this as the son of a Colgate grad who would have loved to rub these past few years in his face. But there's a big difference between a potential win against BC (in which they're somewhat trapped in Chesnut Hill) versus a not very good PL conference game.

Something like that in conjunction with the PPAC to encourage students who come to study music to also play in the band.
