Say what you will about the defense, but to only give up 13 points in the second half (and score 6 of their own) after giving up 34 in the first was a nice turn around. It wasn’t pretty, but they made the two plays they needed to when it mattered most. Absolutely agree. That was a big time 30 minutes for them. Let’s hope there were some nice building blocks for the final three games (and hopefully more).

While we bemoan our D, special teams etc.....that was a tremendous TEAM effort....to win at a sold-out (such as it is) away game with our hobbled D and back-up QB is a testament to this program. Chu Chu Rah Rah!!!!

Top 5 win in the Chesney era. No question.
1) Playing w/o the most dynamic Offensive player in FCS with a completely untested back-up. Kudos to the prep in practice. 2) Starting 3 freshman at all 3 Safety spots. 3) The Mental toughness and heart of this team should make everyone proud.
Unlike many of us (checks pages 3-9 of the board) they don't hang their heads and never panic. Never panicking is a trademark of Chesney coached teams.
Players of the game - Joe P on O and Chisom O on D. Each getting their first start. Chisom played the best of all the frosh D players IMO. Hon Men - Duch (after getting picked on all day with the huge play) and Monte stuffing Louthbridge on the 2 point conversation. He read it, beat the OT blocking and made the play. I can't stress how phenomenal an effort that was. Dobbs set the edge on the blitz too.
Onto Lehigh!

They kept that Sluka injury a secret.
I don’t think Fordham had any idea.

Very encouraging despite 600+ haha!

Throw them in the trash. Don't matter. Esp because they deducted Joe P's final minus 25-30 yds running out the clock from our rushing and total. We had damn near 500 yards of total offense and very balanced.

An amazing, gut check win! Fordham comes into the game with a dynamic, high octane passing offense. HC comes in with a undermanned, young, inexperienced but extremely talented defense. Those Frosh are gonna' be a force. And, HC's starting QB, the great Matthew Sluka is sidelined, unable to play due to an arm injury. Yet, somehow HC wins. Our QB Pesansky played a great game. The "D" was shredded but came through making key plays in the end. to seal the victory. There was not an ounce of quit among the players on this team. TBT, I never expected HC would win. Underlying, this win was the great coaching job by Coach Chesney & his staff. To me this was Chesney's best coaching job in his time at HC. In fact this may have been the finest prep/in-game coaching I've seen in my 60 years of watching HC football. All hail to Coach Chesney, his staff, the players & HC football.

Next man up Chesney standard applied today! Joe P crushed it and we move on. Have to close year with W’s and regardless who plays we need to win and keep marching. Joe P played well but played in one of the most challenging regions in country. Not difficult just need to keep pushing forward and win! Great job by D and now 5-3z. Let’s go!

Toughness, resilience, calmness, and pride. Just a few of the words that come to mind after this win.
The way we bounce back after a loss has always impressed me. The Yale win after BC (which I think is a better win than most will give us credit for). The Bucknell win after Harvard. And now this one (without our starting QB).
From what others have mentioned on this thread, it sounds like we started 3 true freshmen on D today (and one of them I think is actually a WR). I know we lost Haskins to an injury this year, but I didn’t expect our D backs to be this young. Regardless, they came up with some big plays in the 2nd half to help us secure the W.
Congratulations to the coaches and players. Great win.

It seems impossible that our defense got this bad so quickly. Some injuries, certainly, but also poor recruiting. Injuries are a factor. Not certain about "poor recruiting." That seems like a bit of a cop out since players are typically not recruited to start as frosh and we still have to see how they develop. Not referring to the freshman, per se, but to the fact that we are forced to play so many of them at the same time.

A couple of weeks ago I said the over/under for this game should be 100. I was serious. I missed it by four.

I hope Matt is ok. I liked the wrinkle added to the offensive play calls with the wildcat and the Sluka runs but we need him healthy. We can win next week at Lehigh with Joe P. Would be nice to have Matt for Army. If his passing wing never fully gets back to playoff calibre this season, let's figure out how to get him in space with the ball. Joe P can hit him anywhere on the field, direct snaps, end arounds, be creative.

Back from this simply amazing game - Haven’t read this whole thread but one of our problems today was the center snap to Joe P - Joe did a great job handling many errant snaps and still made plays when the timing was off - we can improve in this area and expect we will

The loyal rooters in purple looked very happy! We had a ton of snap issues vs Harvard as well.

Coaches will lose this game today.. Kick the field goal in first half and just now before holding penalty, we are tied...... What field goal was that? Ended up well out of range. HC doesn't have a kicker who can make one longer than 30 yards, 35 at most.

If that was called a fumble on the field (which it should have been) the call would have stood. Tough break. I hate the way most football games are officiated. A horsesh***t play like that should have resulted in a turnover.

The way our offense has moved, wonder if there was any thought about going for two and making this a two score game after the pick six? I agree w/you and HC87 although it worked out in the end. Fordham had to be stunned after that pick.
