Anybody else had it up to here with power conference teams looking down their nose at the NIT and WNIT? I wonder how Geno and Chris Dailey would respond to a WNIT or WBIT invite? I don't believe UConn has missed the NCAA tournament since the days of Bird and Taurasi.
UConn women escaped a determined Syracuse team tonight and are on to the Sweet Sixteen in Portland, Oregon.

Big Mountaineer fan right now. Looks like they copied our playbook both on defending Clark and their shooting, unfortunately

This might be a hockey guy talking here but the officiating in this WVU-Iowa game has been awful. Awfully biased towards Iowa if I might say as well.

Reffing in the women’s game, even at the highest level, is consistently bad.

A controversial opinion here, but I honestly believe that Bueckers is a better basketball player than Clark. Sure, Clark has the edge in scoring, but overall I give the nod to Paige Buckets.

On a neutral court many of those ‘round of 32’ games could have gone the other way. Many were very close down the stretch and the home court advantage played a role in the outcome. It’s not a fair championship with the present structure of the tournament

I hope our PLT championship is as valid this year as last year. Forty miles apart, both venues were rabid for the home team but hopefully the best team won each time.
UConn and Syracuse may have sold out the Albany Civic Center, but that's the exception to the rule right now.
Maybe the NCAA could find cheaper mid sized neutral arenas for opening rounds going forward for the Women's tournament.

Maybe the NCAA could find cheaper mid sized neutral arenas for opening rounds going forward for the Women's tournament. I think that is a great solution. The NCAA men's hockey committee seemed to screw the pooch a bit this year. They went with a 2,500 seat arena (the Blues' practice facility) in Missouri for their midwest regional featuring: NoDak (capacity 11,600), Michigan (6,600), Michigan State (6,300), and Mich Tech (4,200). The capacity of the little rink is up to 3,000 with SRO tickets, but each school was only given a 400 seat allotment and now secondary market tickets are going north of $1000 for hockey rabid fans in North Dakota and Michigan.

Back on track to WBB, I heard a podcaster online compare Clark to Johnny Manziel. While not a fair comparison due to his various off the field issues, it does throw a spotlight on the NIL money (which didn't exist back in Manziel's playing days---legally), complaining, and general attitude of entitlement. That being said she is a pure, gifted shooter. I would still take Paige over her as a teammate and overall all around player.

Nice W last night for Notre Dame, Hidalgo is having a great year and is fun to watch. Considering all their injuries to key starters, Notre Dame’s late season success is a bit surprising.

To be fair she’s not a bad passer (well over 1,000 career assists) and her team does seem to have won quite a few games in the four years she’s led them. One of the more unusual things about her (for those who follow the better college women) is the fact that she’s been remarkably free of major injuries and has played over 30 games each one of those four years. I just saw the Johnny Manzeil special (Netflix?) and that guy was an absolute ( drug and alcohol fueled) trainwreck . Cleveland did zero due diligence. Surprised he didn’t fall beyond 22 in that draft.

This might be a hockey guy talking here but the officiating in this WVU-Iowa game has been awful. Awfully biased towards Iowa if I might say as well. The "big" calls that they replayed I think they got right. But all the little ones added up in favor of the Hawkeyes. In general, I don't think women's officiating has adjusted to how much more physical those games have become. HC, for example, didn't shoot a free throw until the second half in two games late in the season (actually in one of them, it was right at the very end of Q3 or the start of Q4).

Three three point lines on UVM gym floor. I've lost track of what the rules are. Assume they are MBB, WBB and High School.
