In one of the starkest examples of crazy scores, a mediocre Northwestern team upset no. 2 (?) Purdue last week and followed that up by losing to Chicago St. (RPI 340’ish ?) this week Chicago State is currently #321 in KenPom, has been an average #333 over the last five years, and has lost 20+ games in twelve of the last thirteen full seasons.

So, in other words, they'd push for a top 4 spot if they were in the PL...

The Citadel 65 Notre Dame 45 Tough tough times in South Bend. Notre Dame really struggling on threes. They are #30 as far as taking threes (3pt attempts as %of field goal attempts) but #351 in 3 pt percentage at a woeful 26.1%.

UVM really has a nice team - now 9-4 after winning at Toledo by 26, 86-60 - they were 6pt underdogs and shot 54 pct while committing only 9 turnovers

That's what you get when you hire a head coach with a lot of NBA experience. The 3 is king in the NBA these days, especially w/the Celts, which is where Shrewsberry came from.

Shrewsberry was the head coach at Penn State from 2021-2023 before going to ND. He has plenty of college experience outside of his NBA work which last came in the 2018-2019 season.

Shrewsbury getting a lot of attention for his post-game comments after the big loss to The Citadel. Seems like he may be trying to accelerate the transition to his guys. He has a strong class coming in next year led by Nazr Mohammed’s son.

It amazes me that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored over 38,000 points and made a total of--are you ready?--one three pointer. The shot didn't exist for the first half of his career. Coaches at all levels love the three but you'd better have the players who can make them at a decent level.

Penn State was 172nd, 144th and 9th in 3 point percentage the past 3 years (the first of the three years was pre-Shrewsberry).
And when they were 9th in pct, they were 7th in attempts, so they threw up a lot.
Looks like Micah needs to bring in more guys to make shots if he wants to keep playing that way.

Uconn won by 4.. it was a tie game under a minute to go No Donovan Clingan was a problem for UConn. That and Newton and Castle being invisible for much of the game created a very close contest. I will say Cam Spencer is a huge part of that UConn team. They’d be in trouble if he wasn’t there.

Rutgers hangs on to defeat Stonehill by 1. The Skyhawks, who came into the RAC with a record of 2-12, only had six scholarship players due to injuries.
