Interesting that only seven guys have played tonight.
Especially interesting because we got very very little from a few of them.

This free throw shooting is off the charts bad

But basically 7, I thought Louth would return after a couple minutes rest, but he never did. Louth & Kenney did reasonably well as a pair.

I have....Bar Harbor a few times....my youngest brother Pat, now in Kansas City, started his broadcasting career in Bangor...lovely area but WAY up there....water's cold too Everyone and their mother has been to Bar Harbor. I think that Maine's remote location is WAY overrated....but I guess it an easy target so whatever. You guys have a tough situation on your hands....that is one offensively challenged basketball team you have. Good luck the rest of the way. I love Maine, but parts of it are very remote. North of Moosehead Lake, for example. Have you been to Fort Kent?

I can't believe these idiots are going to review an oob call in a 15 point game w/24 seconds left.

I grew uo in Portland, a fantastic city., a great place to live, I have never been to Bangor and have been to Orono once. Dated a girl from Portland for a little bit. Would be one of my top 3 places to live if I left NY, along with Worcester and Tamapa.

Definitely Maine’s best and most talented team since Ted Woodward won 20 games.
But boy, are we bad.
Most disappointingly, it seemed like Maine just played harder than we did tonight. A total lack of focus, countless turnovers, more missed free throws, etc.
That was an awful game and effort.

I read recently that Maine has the biggest Congressional district east of the Mississippi....it was also once part of Massachusetts

I'd like to see Maine make some noise in their league this year. I like Markwood. Might be the toughest DI job in the country. Tynes and the kid from Hungary fun to watch.

This is a complete overhaul of a mostly moribound, unstable, off-the-tracks, (add your metaphor here______ ) program ovah the last 15 years....it's going to take awhile but I have faith in DP.

As do I...I will keep watching and waiting. Some nice play out there tonight by Louth. I like what DP is having these guys do...IMHO it will pay off eventually.

Patience is a virtue. Will keep repeating that at least until PL play begins…

The PL is woefully inept so far, 2-8 tonight against 2 good Ivies and 8 others that are less than fearsome, so I think there is hope we win at least 10 games. I don't see many D1 wins left non-con wise. Maybe 1.

I am so glad that we know from his past success that Paulsen knows what he is doing and is a good coach.
I say that because from what I have seen so far after 8 games I would have some very serious doubts.
I realize that there is a talent deficiency but the performance tonight vs at best an average mid major was pathetic.

This is... a pretty flawed team. Seemingly everything is a struggle right now. In particular Batch has regressed from last year... I don't know if it's just a shooter's slump that is affecting the rest of his game, or if he's not adapting to Paulsen well, or what... but he looked completely out of sorts at both ends tonight.
It's not at all clear to me what this team does well. No size, can't make the 3, bad FT shooting, doesn't run or get into transition well. I don't think it's an effort issue, they're just the less talented team on the floor most nights.
I am surprised to see DP shortening his rotation already. I think he's got to go the other way and play more guys, keep giving the newcomers tastes of the action and chances to prove themselves worthy of more.
Still very happy with the long-term outlook, but there's a bunch of bumpy road between here and Good Times.

An all-around horrendous game. Missing shots inside and outside even when wide open. Really what irked me the most was when we just weren't paying attention. Get a rebound and hold it out and a Maine player comes from behind or the side and steals it or ties it up. Poor passing yet again much too frequently. Who else noticed that Caleb has decided his foul shots should be taken as he stands to the right of the foul line because, I guess, he's left handed.
We have a player who is supposed to be one of our best 3 point shooters and we are down 10-12 points with about a minute and a half to go and he is all alone, wide open. Take a shot? No. Dribble it around a few times and try to pass it inside. If memory serves, after we kill off about 15 seconds, it ends up back with our original player who takes and misses a more contested 3 pointer. Tom likely will vouch for my almost shouting an expletive but just "SHOOT IT!!!" having caught myself.
Maine is NOT a good team. We are, right now, no where near as good as they are. Patience is not my strong suit. I still believe in my bones that DP is head and shoulders better than BN and I am not disappointed so much about losing as how we did it. So far, with the exception of Louth, I don't see a lot of improvement/progress.

At least some of the returnees may have peaked as players. I agree with Ray, it is not a question of effort, but a lack of skill and athleticism. Some of us expected -hoped that the same players who were ineffective last season would become effective simply because of a better coach. That obviously has not happened.

Other than Batch, who seems lost this year, what returnees should we have thought would make a big step up? The hope had to be the newcomers and without any ready-now height we show up as a perimeter team without standout shooters, no one with an offensive go-to move, not much physicality, very slow, and play ragged defensively. Much too soon to seriously question the coaching other than wondering about some of the recruiting. This team doesn't look much better than our former products right now. Play as much of Louth and Ryan as you can and figure out where Wills, Nugent,Singleton and Williams are best suited and hope Batch reemerges. As bad as the PL is I'd now be surprised if we can compete with the 2-3- or maybe 4 teams this season.

Agree on Louth’s play tonight-looked pretty good at times Fell asleep on a play under the basket a minute or two before he sat down, although at the time I didn't think the sitting had anything to do with the bad defense. However, he never came back in. Thought he was solid and one of the best periods of the game was when he and Caleb were in there together.
