Has Coker officially entered the portal? Would love to keep him. No, it would appear he’s leaning NFL but if he stays collegiate it could be HC. Whatever Jalen decides I’m all in.

Spence offered by Elon. Purdy offered by Butler. I'll be interested to see if there are any kids who have entered the portal that end up venturing back to HC. Spence has picked up some nice offers with the best being FBS Akron, but I'm not sure any of his FCS offers would be anything more than a lateral move. At what date did Derek Ng decide to return to HC?

K obviously a bit of a unicorn in recruitment. Many of These 5th years that can graduate in Dec want to be on Campus when school starts in January. At HC, you can take that semester off unless you decide to double major. I’m not sure what Ng did re. Spring semester internship v. double major. I suspect with all these we will know come early January. That also goes for any kids we are recruiting in the portal starting 12/4. It will need to be buttoned up by early January for them to start spring semester. (I.e Jon Wood last year)

If we had a grad school he would be here 96. Same for Dobbs and Purdy. Time for an MBA program, a teacher licensure with masters program and a health science grad program. Sounds great, but.... A health science grad program (to get students who have concluded that they want to go to PA or med school after not taking those classes) would be a good idea. Essentially, you are offering undergraduate courses to graduates so it would require no investment to get it up and running and there is a market for these programs. Other liberal arts colleges offer this type of program. The problem is that those programs are quite intensive, probably not conducive to playing football, and not necessarily of interest to every athlete. If we want to start an MBA program, it would have to be almost entirely taught by adjuncts (which is OK) I am assuming that the college has no library resources so those would have to be added. A full time MBA program is two years, so presumably the athletes would be hanging around an extra year, paying themselves. How many would want to do that? Duke offers a Masters in Management which is a one year course. I just checked and that is what HC alum Brian Foley studied as a grad student football player at Duke. This might make more sense, but I have no idea whether HC could get a graduate program in business accredited with no other programs. The teacher licensure makes a bit of sense, although it is my experience that kids who decide they want to be teachers after college typically do this at a state school for a lot less money. Would the program only have HC athletes doing an extra year? That would be quite an expense. Finally, let me say that if HC offered such programs, they would be on the hook for a full year of tuition for a bunch of football players who only need to compete in the fall. In that I don't understand how the scholarship money works for these one semester athletes, I am not sure of the effect it would have. It would be a lot cheaper and better if the PL presidents could be convinced to allow each school to have 6 to 8 5th year redshirt seniors of either the medical or nonmedical variety. Perhaps if there was a max number, the other schools would get on board.

In 2022 Siderman threw two passes, completing one for a 47 yard TD. He does not show up on 2023 stats. Guessing he redshirted in this 2023 season

Master list which I’ll just edit so there’s not a separate reply for each new offer. Only players with at least one offer so far:
Spence: Delaware, UMASS, URI, UNH, Elon, Towson, Southern Illinois, Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State
Schon: UMASS, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, Elon
Dickson: Sacred Heart
Purdy (6th year): Butler
**This could change but for now it is unlikely to see Dobbs, Sluka and Newman post their list of offers for 2 reasons. 1) They will have dozens. 2) When dealing with P5 or top end G5 w/ significant NIL packages, those conversations tend to more in private. A good example is Duke Grad transfer QB Riley Leonard who went in the portal yesterday and appears he’s already agreed to a deal in principle with Notre Dame. Similar to Sam Hartman last year.
However, even Ayir, Reynolds, and Reich didn’t publicly list their offers last year and only stated their commitment when they had made decisions so part of this is personal preference.

Would Purdy even get tackled in the Pioneer League? Or would he score a TD on every play?

SOV, I know you know the roster personnel/playing time distribution well but for others that might not, the majority of the players listed here either couldn’t come back (6th years) or would not have been “invited” back.
Also, since we have a few posters consistently trying to stir up trouble either out of ignorance or bad faith (or both), take a look at this headline on ESPN “ FBS rosters grow to 20.5% transfer players in 2023”. It’s projected that number could be ~30% in 2024 given it’s the final year players have 2 extra years of eligibility via redshirt and Covid. To put that in perspective, one must assume most players getting scholarship offers in the portal are in the pool of 85 scholarship players on a given D1 roster. Most teams have an additional 15-25 PWO’s and/or traditional Walk Ons. By my math, that means as many as ~40% of scholarship players on 2024 rosters could be portal players.
I say this b/c even if we lose a couple of non grad transfers to the portal this year coming off the largest roster we’ve had in a very long time, this problem is de minimis for us compared to most Division 1 programs. Whatever the conversation sounded like with Stu, multiply that by 25-30 and that’s what the typical staff is dealing with currently.
This is simply not sustainable for the sport without some reforms IMO but perhaps 2024 is the Apex mountain and the numbers come down after Covid eligibility rolls off.

I was very bummed out when he decommitted. He lit it up in high school and I think would have been great at HC. He got in only a handful of plays at Clemson. I guess it worked out for HC. I believe he has two years of eligibility remaining. No stats for 2022, injured? Looks to be the second string QB in 2023. He was majoring in construction management.
