Schon and Spence both picked up UMass offers as promised in my reply above I’ve been updating.

Rosenberg is odd to me. Local kid. Any reason? He was actually playing.

Rosenberg is odd to me. Local kid. Any reason? He was actually playing. For those of us that played in the “non scholi” era which was actually a collection of dozens of partial scholarships, it’s not tough to take a very educated guess what happened here. He was a PWO kid that beat out a partial scholi kid, don’t need much more info to know how this went down. Grandfather Bill was the founder of Dunkin’ Donuts.

Grandfather was either founder or one of the first investors in Dunkin’ Donuts. leaving out the specific player situation, I always thought that PWO kids that did well would often get money, or partials might get augmented. Is that just my misunderstanding?

So I didn't play any ball in college and so I'm not sure what you referenced but my immediate first two thoughts were 1) he thinks he can get an FBS offer or 2) he didn't like the team/staff for some reason?
I don't buy number 2 with Chesney being a big ST guy and grades don't seem like an issue with his 3.7.
Glass half empty me worries he thinks Chesney is out and looking to bolt, though I hope that's not the case.

Here are a couple inputs that should help:
1) Scholis (full or partial) can only be adjusted one way. Up. 2) No team is putting more than a .25 scholi in their LS room.
3) This is purely my informed POV on how some of these post season convos with families and coaches can go down - I’ve seen mountains of research in my 2 decades in asset/wealth management (plus dozens of real life examples) about the “U curve” of wealth. Brass tax, when families or individuals attain a certain level of wealth they often become increasingly judicious on costs when it comes to certain services (like investment fees). Since they are treated with and have come to expect platinum level service everywhere the go (from the country club to the car dealer), they often become increasingly entitled that they should be getting the best deal and if even the PERCEPTION that they are being slighted, in their mind it’s because someone is trying to take advantage of their financial largesse.

Thanks, 05. Seems even less rational other than the entitlement aspect. A one position guy, a LS of all things, who's smart comes in knowing that .25 is his max at any school that would want him. Is given the opportunity to beat out the incumbent as a freshmen and suceeds, then perhaps leaves feeling slighted that he didn't get more than he knew he couldn't get when he came in. BTW, the demand for gold support for scrap pricing is prevalent in many sectors.

I believe this kid (Hunter Helms) originally gave HC a verbal in 2020 and then opted to walk on at Clemson. Got very few snaps at garbage time and is in the Portal as a grad transfer. 247sports.com/Player/hunter-helms-46055002/

It was posted at the time that by several posters who believed he was making a mistake. I guess they had good insight...and he is now trying to get playing time somewhere, along with a Master's Degree. Who are we to judge that it was a mistake? 4 years in a program like Clemson could set him up for life if he wants a job in football (i.e. coaching, administration, etc), and even out of football it certainly makes him a bit more memorable in job interviews, etc.

Are we now reduced to discussing players whose goal is to ride the bench (since others say it was not a mistake) and pick the best bench on which to do that? That seems like a mistake to me for someone who was said to be such a talented athlete. Once in a while we forget how difficult it is behind a starter knowing that, bar injury, we are going to sit. Sort of the reason why so many of us switched from basketball to winter track in high school

Sort of the reason why so many of us switched from basketball to winter track in high school Basketball is by far the hardest one in high school given that only 5 players are on the court at any one time and most teams use a rotation of 7-8. So, if you’re not among the 8 best basketball players in your high school across all 4 classes, you’re never going to play meaningful varsity minutes.

Master list which I’ll just edit so there’s not a separate reply for each new offer. Only players with at least one offer so far: Spence: Georgia State, Delaware, UMASS, URI, UNH, Elon, Towson, Southern Illinois, Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State Schon: UMASS, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, Elon Dickson: Sacred Heart Purdy (6th year): Butler Duchemin: Butler **This could change but for now it is unlikely to see Dobbs, Sluka and Newman post their list of offers for 2 reasons. 1) They will have dozens. 2) When dealing with P5 or top end G5 w/ significant NIL packages, those conversations tend to more in private. A good example is Duke Grad transfer QB Riley Leonard who went in the portal yesterday and appears he’s already agreed to a deal in principle with Notre Dame. Similar to Sam Hartman last year. However, even Ayir, Reynolds, and Reich didn’t publicly list their offers last year and only stated their commitment when they had made decisions so part of this is personal preference. Some updates. Chaos truly begins across all D1 tomorrow.

Will be interesting to see how many underclassmen from our roster and other PL schools end up in the portal, and Do we become more aggressive in the portal over the next four-six months? Does the PL begin to modify certain requirements that might include AI 5th year/6th year Roster size Needs of CAA schools to be part of the PL Changes that would help Georgetown
the league needs to work for its members and remove the Presidents as decision makers and replace them with the AD’s

Spence has size
If I am the staff and want him back for another season I deadline him and say you can come back but I need your answer in 10 seconds, if you hesitate or need to think about it we pull the option and wish you luck

Nor should it. The PL isn't entirely about athletics. Nor should it be. ADs are obviously key when it comes to sports, but the Presidents need to make the final calls on what makes the most sense for their institutions when it comes to important decisions that have academic aspects to them.
