I think with pressure, likely from Fordham and HC, we will see the non-medical redshirt issue addressed soon. I can't see the PL Brahmans in the Lehigh Valey moving on any of those other issues.

Just checked the portal and 5 Ohio State players including their starting Junior QB Kyle McCord are in. This with no significant coaching changes or anything else. Tells me we are about to see a cluster of epic proportions on the national stage.

Grass isn't always greener for those entering the portal.
How many kids will end up in better situations and/or see increased playing time in their new home?

Probably about 10%. I think only 18% find a new home.

So not sure where he'll fall after all the new people enter the portal, but Sluka was hovering around a top 10 portal QB (and one of the better dual threat QBs), with an "expected NIL value" of 300k. I still don't know how and where those figures come from, but I really hope he can go somewhere and capitalize on both the NIL money and a full time starting job in the FBS.

Well, he is at least one rung lower now that TOSU QB has entered the portal.

The lure of NIL money is what is pushing this. I thought I saw, I maybe incorrect or as Roger Clemens would say misremembering, that a large percentage of kids that enter the portal wind up with no home.

Tells me we are about to see a cluster of epic proportions on the national stage. McCord may see some writing on the wall at Ohio State and may be seeking greener NIL pastures (or a little of both). He's not playing in the bowl game...we now have portal folks and pre-NFL folks passing on bowl games in pretty big numbers.

700+ names in the portal as of 11:00AM this morning. Unbelievable!
Dharry’s prior comment is spot on. If a high school or prep. school player has a commutable offer from a school, he should strongly consider committing quickly. With these numbers it will only limit opportunities for aHC players.

To that point - any left over money for most schools is going to portal kids. The recruiting cycle moved up months lately. Most FCS and FBS schools have the majority of their classes verbally committed by July/August. So it's not even just a money thing - it's a roster spot thing.
With that said - could the top 5-6 kids in this class get affected - sure, anything could happen. But you'd almost need it to be an FBS offer because they have 85 full scholarships. If any try to go FCS to FCS they might find a situation where the school doesn't have the money to go sign a full scholarship at his position, or they are earmarking a full scholarship for a portal player.
The caveats to this are as what midwest has said in the past - Ivies and academies will always have a spot because they aren't up against roster spot or money limits.

While I wish Luke and all his fellow HC alums much success, I still find it comical that they (schools) keep trying to sell "graduates" as "transfers."

Well, he could have come back to HC for a fifth year, so he kind of is transferring to another school. That is the case, but the fact that he can keep playing is not the same as graduating. I believe he gets his diploma from Holy Cross this spring. He will still play as a grad student next year, but won't it be from some other institution? When I look at rosters of our transfers (and those from other colleges), they are listed as graduate students.
