Coach Chesney was a great Ambassador for Holy Cross and salesperson for Crusader FB to recruits, families, fans, students, alums and also logically to the Athletic and School Administration. I believe HC FB did secure great extras such as a type of advanced measuring equipment to help with player precision as featured on a local Spectrum News Sports segment. The amount I recall was $100,000 for that.
All support that people can afford is positive including discretionary funds from the college that reward and sustain excellence in any area of the school.

If I understood the discussions with the coaches, it is the coaches who will decide how to utilize any funds provided by the 1843 unit. This could be getting a type of equipment that would not otherwise be available or something akin to NIL money as needed for player retention. Everything goes through the coaches. If I did not understand correctly, I’m happy to get told, either by public post or private message. Interesting and thank you, breezy. I was under the impression that all monies through 1843 would be going directly to the players on the team. I would think that equipment needs would be done through CAF. And wouldn’t donations which support equipment purchases be tax deductible as opposed to payments to the NIL which are not?

CAF dollars do not sit in the operating budget, unless things have changed over the years. For those sports that have a lot of CAF dollars, I am sure they plan year to year for certain items. Back in the day, all items were purchased out of the operating budget. At year end, CAF dollars would cover any deficits. This might have changed after FAD Pine bankrupted the CAF. CAF dollars, like what was called Agency Funds carry over year to year. Operating Funds do not. Spend it or lose it. Your are correct when CAF funds are donated to a specific sport. But the CAF funds with no specific sport designation, are used at the discretion of the Athletic Director. NIL dollars and CAF dollars are apples and oranges Great if that is the case, please let me know, but i think things changed during Covid

CAF and 1843 serve two entirely separate and complimentary purposes and why BOTH are needed. Equipment would be covered by the operating budget and/or CAF, not 1843.

CAF monies doesn’t always go to help ALL things football basketball. The 1843 money goes where each coach wants it to go.

Curran is excited about the incoming class. I think he expects both Frosh QBs to compete for the #2 spot on the depth chart. Coach Curran stated he could see 2 DBs get decent playing time in this upcoming season. He mentioned Cason as needing to touch the ball as a true Frosh WR. Also you could see a DE get some time. WR, DE and DB will have a lot of competitive battles over the summer and the fall. The OL continues to be a strength and he mentioned McNair as having a very solid Spring. They are deep at LB - just have to figure out where to specifically put guys to maximize their strengths. Anything on Schoonmaker ?

Sat behind him and his father at Larry Doyle’s 90 Wide presentation on Saturday. Big kid with firey red hair. Father is a big man as well. Nice guy. Excited about his kid coming to HC. His other son is doing well with the Cowboys. Nice addition to the tight end room for Coach Curran.

I still think a healthy Robinson, Ross and Reynolds are the core 3 man rotation at DE with Kane and Santee as edge OLB pass rushers in passing downs / distances. Very good news on McNair stepping up as the 1 RT. Robinson seemed to gain confidence in the back end of his frosh season, showed flashes. I do think there will be strong competition for the other two "R's" playing time. I didn't know if Ross was still working through some medical rust or just learning to play at the next level in what was essentially his freshman season. Osa maybe healthy and Ross D learning the switch to DE will be interesting to follow. QB backup super interesting. Besides Austen and Jenkins and Graham coming in, Tyler Robinson is a physical monster. He looks like a taller Fuller wearing a QB number.

Ross will def get an additional 10% boost second year after ACL repair and not having to wear that bulky brace. It’s a big deal. Osa unfortunately had an injury during winter workouts and will miss the first half of the season.

As for QB Robinson and his physical prowess, I don’t think it would shock any of us to see him as a short yardage QB option in lieu of Sluka. Matt was basically a guarantee 2-3 yd pickup running QB power when needed. Ty is a legit 6’4 225-230 and athletic kid. Not as shifty as Sluka but bigger and potentially already stronger.

That’s a lot of money even when considering it will be going to many athletes across several teams.

FedEx employee Tom Hanks lived on coconuts during the movie "Castaway" and now FedEx has $25 mil to give away. Hats off to FedEx for supporting St. Jude's Hospital. Loved both Danny Thomas and his daughter Marlo Thomas.

Not in that league but Fordham and Colgate have very strong NIL programs in place. We need everyone’s support. Not looking for FedEx type funding.
