He was with Dave for NCAA years at Williams and Bucknell. At W&M he won with inherited players and then lost four years in a row but that may not be significant as an assistant coach. From Dane's point of view, I'd imagine his best chance at another top job is heading back to the PL/Ivy as an assistant. Could see him latch onto a program in the DMV outside the PL, but his resume would be attractive to high-academics down the road When Dane was interviewing for various head coaching jobs, and not getting them, prior to landing the W&M job, one criticism of him was that almost all of his experience was under one head coach. For that reason, I think he would be better off working for a different head coach and broadening his perspective. Having said that, I expect him to end up at HC. I have been somewhat surprised that he didn’t already take a job at a higher level than the patriot league, given his recruiting success as an assistant. . He was primarily responsible for Bucknell landing players like Mike Muscala. I wonder if he and his wife had decided to simply take a year off.

Quick google search shows Dane Fisher signed a 5 year contract when he was hired at W&M in 2019. No indication he was ever given an extension, so unless he was very frugal over during his tenure, one would think he needs a paying job this year - even at an assistant's salary.

Getting back to RJ leaving, confirmed by two on-campus sources that his replacement has been hired. Not for publication yet.

Vegas has Dane Fisher as the logical choice but no actual knowledge here.

Yes. Patience. I am sure the announcement will come soon. It is not Dane Fisher.

Yes. Patience. I am sure the announcement will come soon. It is not Dane Fisher. Since Coach Paulsen's first name is Dave and he did not graduate from Holy Cross, there is a rumor that the new coach is someone also named Dave who also did not graduate from Holy Cross. I have not been able to confirm if there is any truth behind this rumor

As I reminded Coach Paulsen on Saturday, yours truly dubbed him "Non Alum Dave II" and he remembered that as well as meeting his namesake at Fitton Field. And we need the original Non Alum Dave in the stands leading the "you, you, you . . . . ON YOU!' cheers. Assistant coaches are a dime a dozen. They come. They go. NAD is a permanent fixture in the Hart Center.

We won't know that until we read it in the HC release. At Brown he was the "operations coordinator" for basketball.

I wonder how our compensation for assistant coaches compares to other low-mid major basketball programs.

Good question. But moving from DOBO at Brown to assistant at HC is probably considered a step up in his career.
As far as I can figure, he was not a player at URI but the team manager.

Perhaps it was his relationship with Adidas that got him the interview since they are a supplier- not a negative at all just a question

To be honest, I would have expected a stronger hire to replace RJ. This solidifies Bryson as the right hand to DP & Rawlings as the lead recruiter on the trail.

Two assistants who never played college basketball probably doesn't happen on many staffs.

I wonder how our compensation for assistant coaches compares to other low-mid major basketball programs. Assuming there's a savings over what RJ was paid, if DP wanted to take funds from the salary line item and use it for something like international recruiting that would be crafty. I have no issue with this young man's basketball background.
