No problem with the hire and wish him success.
I just wonder if we significantly under compensate assistant coaches compared to others in the PL and northeast basketball.

You don’t need to have been a player to be a great coach. Think Luke Murray. Worked his way up not having been a player and almost had himself a head coaching gig at UConn if the boss man left. I trust Paulsen here. This guy’s gonna improve the program.

No problem with the hire and wish him success. I just wonder if we significantly under compensate assistant coaches compared to others in the PL and northeast basketball. Probably significantly under compensate compared to BC, UConn, Providence and UMass. Probably under compensate compared to BU, Northeastern, URI, Harvard, probably hold our own or pay a little more than Merrimack, Bryant, Stonehill, UMass Lowell. Probably on a par with the PL teams not in high cost major cities like American, BU and maybe Loyola. Whatever was negotiated with our new hire is fine. He gets an opportunity to be an actual D-1 coach and HC gets relevant experience but not playing experience. That deserves some discount at his first stop as a coach, after that it's not as significant.

Agree, and the comment wasn't about the new hire who will be just fine. I agree with the buckets LS placed schools, but think we are in the final group

Good question. But moving from DOBO at Brown to assistant at HC is probably considered a step up in his career. As far as I can figure, he was not a player at URI but the team manager. Didn't hurt Daignault too much

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach" Who cares? Anyone remember how great a player Brett Nelson was? And how he did as a head coach? Dave Paulsen, a D3 player. I'll take Dave. You can keep Brett.
Our best coach in decades was Ralph. Now, I expect the entire Class of '67 to defend what they might think is a criticism of his playing (it's NOT), but Ralph was an average player at HC IMHO. But he was an outstanding coach.

OKC coach never played College Bball. Just saying Correct. He was the team manager at UConn. Just saying being the team manager isn't necessarily a black mark

To be honest, I would have expected a stronger hire to replace RJ. This solidifies Bryson as the right hand to DP & Rawlings as the lead recruiter on the trail. No disrespect to this young man as he is just starting off in his coaching career, but this is what you get when you as a college don't pay assistant coaches very well.
